He told me how much money he makes?

This guy I'm dating (dating about 2 months, not exclusive as of now) told me the other day how much money he makes. He makes a good living but played it off like it wasn't that much. Was he just trying to impress me? The only guy I've ever know how much he makes was my long-time boyfriend a few years ago. None of the other men I've dated have discussed how much money they make with me.

Perhaps he thinks that such things are important to you and he wanted to be open about it in hopes that the information will result in your relationship becoming exclusive. He may not have been trying to simply impress you outright, but rather trying to engage in openness and make you feel secure. Playing it off as if it isn't much might be significant, but it might not depending on how high of a number we are talking about. If he makes a great deal of money then playing it off probably means that he was trying to impress you, but if he just makes a reasonable living it might really not be very much compared to where he hopes to be in the future. Can you provide some sort of range for us to go off of in making this determination? How much are we talking about?

Ok, what I am trying to get at is that its bad form to try to impress your date or girlfriend with how much your making or money you have. While his credit cards didn't exactly show how much money he had, he thought it would impress them. Wrong. It looks dumb. I don't know how it came up in your discussion, but personally, I would not talk about how much money I make till much much further in the relationship. (when we are really serious)

Hmmm, could be trying to impress. Could be he's really trying to impress you. Have you 2 gotten serious, like marriage stuff? Maybe he is trying to point out that he's a good provider. Or, maybe he thinks you are into that, which would not be a good thing.
