What does it mean when a girl avoids a guy's gaze?

What's the difference between the I-avoid-your-gaze-because-youre-unattractive and I-avoid-your-gaze-because-youre-cute?

If a girl avoid a guy's gaze it could mean she's attracted to him but also she finds him unattractive. But what's the difference? Does it even matter? Or do girls, who are attracted to a guy will take the initiative eventually and find another way to contact the guy again?

that's kinda stupid, to avoid the guy's gaze so he doesn't have the wrong impression... I never made a move - not even intended to make one. I didn't really glance at their direction. It's only because we're walking down the same pavement towards each other. And if a girl doesn't want to make the wrong impression this would have to constantly look down or sidewards.

What would you expect the guy to do, so you don't have to look at ? Also look down or the side so the girl don't get the wrong impression and doesn't have to look away on your own? Would that the appropriate behavriour for the guy?

Girls, as well as guys, usually look at things that appeal to them. When a person looks at a person of the opposite gender, there is usually a question of attractiveness. What makes the person tick or what you could possibly see in them? When a person looks at a person of the same sex, there is usually a sense or feeling of competition where you measure each other up. This is talking in a romantic/love/sexual case. A girl stares at a guy because there is a mystery in that person and they have a desire to get to know/ even talk to the guy. It might sound creepy but it's true.

Nothing really except maybe uncomfortable with guys looking at her or she doesn't want your attention (not interested). Oh my goodness, there was this guy who MADE his STARE NOTICEable. It was uncomfortable so I just stop looking back. Now, it seems a little more down to earth so I am talking to him (classmate). They are most likely not interested and don't want to send the wrong message. I know if I like I will try to stare at him without him noticing and if he notice that I notice him, I would be embarrassed. It is like for guys. We stare at what we are attractive to.

ok I can't select either a or b because you've got it all wrong.. the only reason I would avoid a guy is if he did something mean to me and I don't wanna see or talk to him.. it has nothing to do with his attractiveness whether you avoid or notice him... I would never purposely avoid the gaze of an unattractive guy but if I saw an attractive guy I might look then look down then look again.. hope I helped.. :)

@update.. whether she knows you or not, this gazing at you is still the same as I said before.. she doesn't have to know you to think your attractive or not... like I said, I would never purposely look away from an unattractive guy but I might be coy with a cute guy..

How long would you carry on being mean to you and avoiding him? Wouldn't you want to say something like I'm sorry I'm not intrusted? And if he avoided you back would it make you want to talk to him to work things out?

If they make eye contact and then shift their eyes it's more likely they may like you as opposed to just never looking directly at you at all because they find you unattractive. But keep in mind women don't always instantly judge guys on physical looks the way we do... unless you're a hideous troll-man,

It's perfectly reasonable to want to avoid looking at someone to avoid giving the wrong impression. You see so often on this site specifically that eye contact is considered a sign by many. If you wanted to not give someone a sign you'd avoid eye contact. it might sounds stupid but it does happen.

HEY, it is NOT ALWAYS ABOUT YOU. The biggest mistake my male friends make is that they assume a girl should act the same as them but we are not all wire the same. Ask why some people are good at sales and some can't even get over other. It is call walking in someone else shoe and understanding them. If you can't get it, then you probably need to relook at why you done.

Half the guyy who look at me, I think they find me at least somewhat attractive, if they're cute, I would avoid eye contact especially if he's with other people. I he's alone, then fine.
