Could voice be a turn off?

If you chat with someone online and you start to like them and feel interested enough to want to meet them...(you've seen their picture and have seen them on cam but never heard them talk) and suddenly one day after a few years of chat, this person talks, and maybe they don't sound exactly how you expected them to sound... Would that turn you down? as in You no longer want to meet them, or at least not interested in them as a boyfriend/girlfriend?

There's a few women I've met in public before whose voices really surprised the heck out of me, so I guess that's kind of similar in a sense. One woman I talked to once stood about 6'2" or so, when she said a few words to me her voice was a little deeper than I had anticipated, it didn't scare me or turn me off, but it was a surprise. Another woman I can think of was a friend of a few friends of mine, the first time she introduced herself to me I couldn't believe how squeeky her voice was! It really threw me off for a few minutes, she was probably about 5' tall and quite petite but sounded like a elementary school-aged girl. I'm not saying either one was a complete turn-off, but they both took me by surprise, that's for sure. I'm almost never going to solely judge a woman by her voice, that's pretty shallow... unless she sounds like Richard Sterban in that Oak Ridge Boys' song "Elvira", that would be pretty weird.

To me, voice is the equivalent of appearance and attraction. I tend to judge people by the sound of their voice, NOT their accent. I'm normally very accurate at reading people well and voice was almost always the top factor. This is partly the reason why online dating is incredibly flawed - you've only got your optimistic/pessimistic imagination to go by. It ignores body language too. I judge someone within the first 10 seconds, offline dating is obligatory.

I can look at someone and not feel anything at all, but then her voice conveys personality that can drives me crazy. I've been attracted to girls I wouldn't normally go for because of this and had been smitten. I have to enjoy talking to someone for there to be a relationship at all.

if he sounds different that is okay different isn't necessarily bad but if I don't like his voice it would turn me off. I hope that doesn't sound mean but I can't help it. one time I chatted w this guy on a dating site and then he called me his voice was very high pitched and feminine. I gave him a chance anyway and went on a date and tried to like him but I just could not feel sexually attracted to him at all and it wasn't even neutral I was grossed out. there was no chemistry.

so it can DEF be a turn off. that is why I think it is good to just meet the person quickly because in person is the only way to REALLY know someone.

Not much would because I'd have built some kind of relationship with that person... but I guess if his voice is really squeaky or he mumbles all the time that would turn me off.

Yes, it plays a part.

If I don't like his voice, chances are... It's not going to go anywhere beyond friendship.

Yeah I can see how that would happen. For instance, women with adolescent-sounding voices are a huge turnoff for me, as are women with abnormally deep voices and/or smoker's voice.

When an adult woman sounds super high-pitched, like a little girl would sound.

Also, I should add that undeveloped speech (i.e.a woman who's voice sounds like a little girl) is typically an indicator of significant childhood trauma.

That's not to say that this makes the woman a bad person--I just don't care for the sound is all.

i really don't like low or sort of raspy voices on women definitely a turn off, womens voices should be feminine. I noticed women who smoke develope this sort of lower sounding voice, iam also turned off by smokers.

Definitely; I don't like my voice much, and I've met people online who gave me their number but then weren't interested after I talked to them.
