Eye contact around someone you find attractive...?

Question

Do you stare and try to maintain eye contact? Or do you give quick glances because you find it hard to maintain eye contact? Also state whether you're a shy or confident person.

As for me, it's 50/50. Sometimes I feel like the man, stare them down and give them a friendly smile... and sometimes I feel awkward as hell and end up pulling something like this link

I normally maintain eye contact, if I managed to see if the guy give me a glance and started to maintain eye contact too, I will normally flashed him a polite smile :). When I'm talking to the guy who's I'm so into, we did a lot of eye contacts, long gazings, 90% of the conversation just staring into each others' eyes, as if our mouth speaking different thing and our eyes were running their own conversations which definitely makes both of us to lose track on what we're talking about sometimes (happens to both of us that we asked the other party to repeat what they were explaining before due to staring into each others' eyes so deeply lol! but most of it is on his side he just keep telling me to repeat what I said while bending towards me because he claimed he couldn't hear me well.)

I'm a shy person and sometimes I feel confident. I have 2 types of crushes. The first type is that you like him but not really seriously and the second I that you can even look at them in the face. You end up smiling like an idiot and you feel like you floated. The 2nd type of crush usually goes on longer. I can't maintain eye contact. Everytime I give someone an eye contact, I usually just jerk back.  However, giving eye contact doesn't mean she likes you too. "Sometimes politeness is so rare that people mistake it for flirtation". Recently I thought a like I like, likes me too with all the signs I think was right. I was wrong, he didn't like me back. Often times, I tell myself that I will maintain eye contact to try and let him know I like him, but almost 90% of the time, I get nervous and end up looking away. I think it's pretty normal. It makes the other person think you are nervous around them, and they contemplate as to the reason why, which could lead to them to think you like them. Try and keep it 50/50. Depending on the person, they may find it cute. Also, on the times when you maintain eye contact, smile at them after a few seconds. And when you break eye contact, smile to yourself, it will definitely get their attention

For me it's this weird middle ground. A lot of people have trouble keeping eye contact, but force themselves to. See, I do the opposite. Sometimes I can't help but make eye contact. But when this happens I try to stop myself from holding eye contract for too long so I don't seem like a creep, so I end up looking away a lot. Ugh I really shouldn't do that in retrospect.

I try and maintain eye contact and smile, often people look away before the smile. I have better luck with old ladies! God those old ladies sure can smile! Although I really have no problem making eye contact wearing a three piece suit under a leather coat, but really that's overwhelmingly awkward. Oh and I'm the shy type...

It's 50/50 for me as well. It depends on the person. If I'm comfortable around him or know him as in talked to him, I will stare and maintain eye contact and smile. If I feel awkward, I glance and look away if I know I'm about to get caught. I just don't want him to think I watch his every love because that's creepy as hell.

If we're only a few feet from one another, talking or not, I'll look you right in the eyes.

I'm good with eye contact, my problem is speaking. Not knowing how to carry an INTERESTING conversation - I've never been very talkative with strangers, ever.

i have a hard time maintaining eye contact. actually, I have a hard time looking them in the face. but, I am trying to get over that and I'm trying this new thing where I at least look for a few seconds and damn its so difficult. my mind goes blank and I get a bit dizzy. this eye contact stuff is really difficult.

I look and smile some and then go and talk or something , I'm not ever trying to stare them to death , just cause it won't help and I still feel painfully guilty for one or too that I did stare to death in my youth . ^_^

I'm a mix, sometimes I feel confident and will hold eye contact for as long as it feels comfortable, sometimes I get overcome with shyness and have to glance away while I'm talking to them.

Somemes ill only hold the contact if I'm interested in them anless I'm talking to someone because that's rude if your looking at the ceiling while someones trying to talk to you.I mean like walking by each other or something or in class.
