Guys: What kind of compliments do you want to hear?

That's say you see this girl around, but you don't know her, what would be a flirty compliment that would flatter you speechless, and would want you to pursue a relationship with her?

"You look good." or "Yummy." "Yummy" is a good term.

This one may sound cheesy, but, if you mean it, and you've seen the guy before and he looks like he's worked out... "Are your arms getting bigger?" Again, don't do it unless you mean it, though.

or just do a genuine compliment that's not too feminine. If it sounds like a compliment you could make to anyone, then that's fine. If you are making a compliment that sounds like you're complimenting another woman on her shoes, then change how you approach it so it sounds more "manly."

"I love your shirt!" It's ok... but make it better with "I love your shirt! It makes you look bigger!"

You want to kind of build him up little, make him feel masculine.

I personally love walking women to their cars; even female friends, because I'm "the protector." If you can do something where you make him feel wanted, or needed, (I need you to get that ar off the top shelf for me! or "can you open this container?") then it's good.

Don't use "nice" or "sweet." Those are the kisses of death.

"You're a nice guy!" "You're sweet" "you're a teddy bear." Ugh. I got all of these recently, and I ran screaming. Heh. Usually these are the things that girls say just before they really reject a guy, so while part of you might think of it as a compliment, it equates to an insult for a lot of guys. Instead, you use a more specific compliment that doesn't seem like a blow.

A married man who is great with kids, and especially his own, that CAN be sexy. A wife who says "I really appreciate how great you are with the kids" is a compliment; "you're so sweet" isn't.

"Greg is SO patient with people!" is better than... "Greg? oh he's such a nice guy!"

People tend to associate "nice" with "Wimpy."

A simple laugh worked for me. Granted, nothing came of it (two strangers in the DMV, it's not going anywhere!), but I was flattered. Long story short -- I rant. A lot. My brother and I were in the DMV back in July, doing something or other, and I was doing my usual commentary on the people around us. My brother, who hears me often enough that he's no longer as *cough* receptive to my comments, is NOT amused. This gal, on the other hand, can barely contain her giggles. I wasn't TRYING to make her laugh, she just happened to be standing next to me as we waited around for a few hours. It made me feel a bit better, knowing that not everyone thought as my brother did about my more acerbic ramblings.

That's it. A barely-contained laugh that came out as a snort. So much better than an insincere chuckle or a murderous stare. It made my day. It's amazing how much entertainment you can draw from repeatedly guessing which person (out of the dozen or so left standing) is going to break under the pressure first and sit in the last remaining empty chair. It's rarely who you'd think it'd be. The fat ones have a point to prove!

He is the life of the party and I am an introvert. He professed to be shy. First I called b. s. on the shy statement and then I gave the compliment that "he has more charisma than anyone else present." He looked stunned that I said that and I of course felt my cheeks get hot for saying it to him in front of everyone. He's hard to make speechless so it's hard to know how he felt about it, but then I heard someone else tell him right after I said it that I'm the sweetest, nicest person they know.

Kiss of death! Arrrrrrrrrrrgh! That will give most guys a conniption fit saying that! Make him feel manly. If you want to go the non physical route, ok... "you rock!" or "You're really great with people!" Don't make them feel "nice." Guys get rejected with the word "nice." Nice is so often associated with "wimpy." There's a Will Smith song out there where the lyrics go "Sometimes ya'll mistake nice for soft..."

I would agree with most and would also recommend an honest compliment that is sincere. Also I have been called the nice guy quite a few times and that equates to big brother figure or one she is not interested in a saying so politely even though it may not sounds like it. You can't go wrong with anything that goes "I like you__" Shirt would be an easy one that most guys would like. Perhaps if he does his hair a certain way that is different then the usual you could say I like your hair or what not. I'm not sure one phrase would flatter me speechless and inspire me to pursue a girl for a relationship. I think I would have to know her a little bit at least. I think it would be best for you to try to start out with just talking here or there and then you could try to set up a group outing like bowling which is a good place to make friend (through other friends or at least for me) and then continue your quest to get this guy to like you.

Easiest way is to just compliment him on the most positive thing that you noticed about him immediately. So if he's got on a cool shirt and you noticed that right away, or his watch,shoes whatever, or his hair, could be a smile or a laugh or a his eyes.

Make a comment about his shirt or shoes, something personal for him. It's quite likely that he put almost no effort into choosing what he wears that day, but a compliment on it will let him know you like it and should make him wear it/similar stuff more often. It would be great if the compliment was honest too.

I would like to hear a woman call me hot, especially in a semi-funny way, like "Wow nice hair today, that's kinda really hot right now." Commenting on physique is the same thing.

Personality-wise, letting guys know that you respect their interests sounds great. What they do for fun, other things they spend their time on, etc. A compliment on things they do that other people should do is really good stuff.

i myself like any compliment and am also kinda strange because if someone insults me I just kinda laugh and say thanks for telling me your opinion...i alweays give a smile to that person and they for some reason never insult me again...lol...

but anyway, a lot of guys just like to be complimented about anything...i myself don't really care.

a compliment to start a relationship with someone seems like a pretty shallow way to begin it. id start by introducing yourself. have a chat, get some lunch and flirt a lot. let him know you don't just want to be friends.
