Do you think this line "note to self: stop expecting" is true?

I mean, lately I have had more and more experience with just people not keeping their promises and if you want something to be done good, you are gonna have to do it yourself.

And also, if you meet a new person and you think it's all gonna be so cool, but after a while the bubble bursts and you hit the ground again. So you better not raise any expectations.

Expectations can sometimes actually be hidden demands.

And you can't really blame anyone else for the fact that "the bubble bursts" since it's after all you who created that imaginary bubble in the first place with perhaps unrealistic expectations of another human being.

Acceptance and understanding is also a major factor.

If we understand and accept the fact that people have flaws and issues that makes them tell lies or not be trustworthy then we will not feel like a victim and feel sorry for our self when we are lied to or mistreated. We will instead maintain our power and the tables might even turn to cause us to feel sorry for that lying, lost and broken person who is mistreating us.

I wouldn't say that I have created unrealistic expectations.. like keeping a secret or promise. But it's an interesting angle you brought forth.

I agree. However, some expectations are good to have, depending on the situation. Expectations are meant to prepare you for the unknown, which can be a good thing. But generally, yes, I agree that expectations that are too high just aren't healthy. You always end up being disappointed, and sometimes even hurt.

So, maybe the line should be "note to self: expect less" instead?

Yep. The way I look at it. If I loan you money, and don't expect it back. I won't be upset if I don't get paid back. However, if you do pay me back; I'm pleasantly surprised.
