Have you ever eaten smokie?

Several foods go under this name such as fish or sausage but here I'm talking about the sheep version. A old sheep is sheared, slaughtered, and hung up ungutted before the remaining fleece is burnt off with a blow torch. This gives the meat a unique smokey flavours and the skin a soft succulent texture.

They are popular in west Africa but are illegal in the UK. However they are still produced on the quiet for African immigrants and of course some farmers and their friends have taken a liking to the dish themselves.

So have you ever eaten it or would you given it's illegal status and questionable hygiene?
