But , I will tell you the truth , just as I told my daughters when they were around 14 years old , thankfully neither has any interest in smoking anything.
I have smoked cigarettes in the past , I despise smoking like you will not believe , I'm 62 years old , I have not smoked for 32 years , I can't believe that I did it , I just am so opposite now. So why did I start? Initially , it was because of a girl , and all the " cool kids " smoked , I was about 16 years old , also I was a golf caddy at Australian tournaments , always " hanging around " golf , and back then all the players smoked , including my hero Jack Newton ( he had 2 arms then ) RIP , and it looked so cool , and I thought I looked cool , and Cigarette companies used to sponsor these tournaments " The Wills Masters " , I think the first pro event I caddied in.
You can see how different it was? This acceptance , it was everywhere..
First time I recall seeing a non smoking bar was in LA , and I then thought " Wow so kool " , the air was clear.
I also smoked dope / hash , and took speed from about age 21 - 24 .
I told my children , here's what I did , I don't recommend it , I hate it , but I was addicted and it took me time to give it away , so , you are going to offered all this stuff , and I will not be there watching , so its going to be up to you.
Funny thing back then the dope and all that was pretty easy to give up , just had to break the circle of those friends , nothing physical for me , but Cigarettes' , that was a different story , I tried probably 5 times , but it was everywhere , people offering you these things with lines like " You have to die of something " - What a thing to say to a supposed friend?
Please don't start , forgetting death , its about being as fit as you can be when you are above ground , cigarettes are horrendous , 32 years on , I occasionally have a dream that I've done it , and on waking I can taste the nicotine in my mouth , and its real , horribly addictive , with just no positives.

Granted I've smoked more than one at this point but that's other reasons, social reasons. And I do like vaping so yeah I vape way less harmful and tastes better so win win.
Cigs themselves don't do much if you have one it won't help, if you have a couple and it becomes a habit then it helps in terms of you liking to keep that habit but nothing else. Habits by nature keep people calm, you could do the same thing with a breathing exercise every morning or something.
People say it's addictive but eh I am either immune to addiction or it's not. Not once have I ever smoked because I felt the need. I've smoked because my ex would go out for a cig so I would join her, or my friend would such reasons like that. It's rare I smoke by myself though I sometimes do, and what I mean is I will probably have one pack that lasts me the whole year because yeah rare.
Vaping that's more common but I can have none-nic ones just fine and are my more preferred. It's just something to do while writing or between a match online or waiting for the bus.
Also your first cig won't taste nice I can pretty much guarantee that. No one likes their first lol. Much like coffee the taste is off putting at first but becomes nice once we make our body natural senses turn off because we react to as if it's poison. Then well the stuff they add to cigs is poison Tabaco it's self is not and shows actually a good range of helpful uses in small doses like a lot of drugs.
But after your first, the smell and taste becomes better anyway like coffee. Then it of course depends on the cigs some are stronger in Nic than others and some are menthol, different flavours etc. My favourite cigs are Marlboro Gold because they are light on the Nic.01 Reply- +1 y
If your wanting to try it I would just suggest getting a pack, then smoke one a month or something if your worried about it becoming addictive. Or just get one from a friend and make sure they don't give you more frequently.
And of course as the better alternative just try vaping, though you for sure don't want to get anything high in nic your body will tell why that was wrong right away lol. Just get a very low nic one or just none-nic. Sometimes Nic ones can help the flavour a bit but yeah the lower the better. The higher is only really needed for people trying to quit.
+1 yYes, I started smoking when I was 12 years old. I stole a pack of smokes from my mother. When she and my stepfather questioned me about whether I took them or not, I told my mother, yes, very defiantly. I left the house and when I came back there was a pack of cigarettes and a lighter with my name on them. I was told if I was going to smoke I might as well do it in front of them.
I smoked a pack of cigarettes each day for 23 years, but for the last 4 of those years, I would say it was more of a 2-pack-a-day habit. I was 35 years old when I was finally able to quit for good and I haven't had a cigarette since 2011.
I found smoking relieved my stress, or rather I smoked more when I was stressed out, mostly because it gave me something to focus on.
But, I hated smoking and being tied down and dependent on them. I always stressed about whether I had enough to make it through the day, and the week. Could I make them stretch until I could get another carton? Could I last through the whole movie if I went to the theater or grocery shopping or on a long flight? It was the first thing I thought of in the morning when I woke up and the last thing before I went to sleep.
And then above all that, you have to worry about the cost of them and the taxes, and I can't believe just how expensive cigarettes have gotten. Where I live, they are almost $10 for a pack, back when I was smoking I could get 10 packs (a carton) for $12-14.
If you were thinking of starting, please for the love all your sanity, and health... DON'T. It is not, absolutely not worth it. It is a gross and disgusting habit that is very addictive and hard to quit.

So, those people have already started, you haven't. Let's see them try to quit. That's a different story.
I don't drink, never have, but I was a life long smoker of cigarettes like all of the older people on here are telling you how they started. Everyone in school, kids, adults, old people, young people smoked cigarettes. We didn't know then about how dangerous it is for your health.
Maybe your friends think they're helping you so they're telling you cigarettes and beer helps them mentally FOR THEM!! NOT YOU!
There were times in my life when I would get stressed out and be anxious so I alwatsent for my cigarettes. But I didn't always know they'll kill you.12 Reply- +1 y
consider the anxiety was CAUSED, by nicotine addiction withdrawal , so not really helping daily stress, but just releaving its own anxiety of addiction that non smokers don't feel

@stratguy632
No, that's not what I mean at all. When things in my life stressed me out, like my husband abandoning me and myself, my cigarettes were the only thing that would calm me down.
Trying to quit is next to impossible once you are addicted to them. They help with physical pain too. So, if they weren't so bad for us, I would recommend them to people going through stressful things.

I never done that stuff, and I think anyone that does that stuff now days has got to be a bit messed up in the head. The whole medical establishment has been warning people for years and years and years about the harmful effects doing that stuff does to the body. Not only that, cigarette smoke doesn't just effect you. It also effects those who are around you too. When they breath in the second hand smoke. Alcohol kills brain cells, and if you get drunk, and drive, you can kill someone by mistake. To me none of this is worth it.

exactly AND smokers add BURDEN on the hospitals and health care centers by choice and despite warnings on package.
i recall the ad "get vax so not burden hospitals" tell yhat to millions of negligent smokers.
someone who willingly harms self is like those who gash their skin and must be locked up to prevent self harm.
+1 yYup, smoked from the age of 9-32 and. Was deep into alcohol in-between the age of 13-22.
Alcohol does numb you - creates the illusion of it helping or it's better than the alternative (it can feel like) and well usually when you're addicted to something (nicotine) it gives a relief.

+1 yI've done all that and sniffed it off a hooker's butthole... can't stop me... it helps me sleep... not really... the cocaine I just sniffed off that balck chick's butthole... probably going to keep me up for a while. That was a good smelling butthole though. Don't knock it until you try it.

I don't like cocaine... I just like the way it smells.

@Tapeworm I tapped it out of the little glass jar, so I know it wasn't old cum that dried up on her butt hole. She was actually really clean before I started molesting her. ... just a few more years and she'll be legal age... but I'll lose interest before that point.
Plus when I make coom powder... it's kinda yellow. I've already tried to trick people into sniffing my coom up their nose.

+1 yI used to smoke back in the day, in fact everyone smoked, it was a great way to meet girls because they wanted a cigarette and it was a good way to get them outside the bar for a quiet talk. It also didn't help that I bartended so many years because service industry shit tend to lead to a lot of smoking nights. Luckily I quit. Don't miss it at all.

00 Reply Nope. Not even once. Really never felt the urge to try it. The YOLO shit which everyone else uses to justify their desires is trash. If it's about intoxicating yourself I'd rather go sleep or go for a walk or drive. Helps better.
