Which pastry is better: donuts or muffins?

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: if you ever go back in time to before 2005 or so, and ESPECIALLY if it's before the mid '80's, make sure you stop and get some doughnuts. You deserve to know how good they are when made with a PROPER fat, before the concerns about hydrogenated oils made everyone switch over to canola and drown everything in salt, and even better if before concerns about saturated fats made them switch over to the soybean crap in the first place. Yes, it's bad for your health if you're snorking them down every day, but you don't need to do that, do you? Hell, the emphasis NOW is entirely on sugar, and that's the big nutritional boogeyman of today, isn't it?

The OTHER big perk is that all the Timecops will looking for people trying to kill Hitler; no one cares if you just want donuts.

So in these days, I'll say muffins, if only because not being fried means you have a much bigger spectrum of flavors and ingredients available. But if you're at a State Fair, all bets are off. Those people fry things like they MEAN it.

Donuts usually taste better, and you can often eat more than one, unlike muffins, that are generally filling.. But muffins are typically better for you.

Muffins. Tbh, I'm not a fan of donuts. Too sweet, heavy, and oily for me.

My fave donut is something I haven't found in a long time. An old-style plain donut that isn't very sweet and that goes great with a cup of coffee.
