I don't have either often but actually had a muffin this morning. French Vanilla - was yummy.
To your question, I'll side with James and go with muffins but I will never say no to a chocolate cupcake :)

I like muffins more cause in muffins the whole cake tastes sweet but in cupcakes only the icing is sweet.
