I just made me a grilled cheese because it was that or PB&J with our last two pieces of bread... it's not like that melty kind of grilled cheese but I think it works. So how y'all do it?
I have a panini maker and find it to be awesome grilled cheese sammies. It's good because first there's no flipping involved, it seems to cook faster & cleanup is a breeze.
Butter the outsides of the bread and they get super crispy golden brown. Inside, I'm not a huge fan of processed American cheese, so I usually use a combo of like a colby jack, provolone/mozz and/or a cheddar.
Also, don't forget to add tomato slices (you'll thank me later if you're not already doing this). Finally, top off with a few drops of Frank's RedHot sauce for a bit of a kick!

Butter on the bread, lots of cheese, then "grill" until the cheese is melty and the buttered part of the bread is crispy and golden brown.
Butter, Garlic powder, and two slices of cheese. Paired with tomato soup.
