How do I know when I am addicted to alcohol please?

I've said some very nasty comments, that I know are not me. I have a lot on my mind currently but that's doesn't excuse my behaviour when I am drunk. I am drinking on a bad day 2 bottles of straight rum and much more. What do I do please?

I feel like I don't know who I am anymore. I am angry and upset all the time. I am angry at Putin for putting everyone I love in this suitation. I've not heard from my family for days now 😔

Thank you everyone for their kind words. I will get help, I think I am having some sort of break down. I need to get myself together and look after my sister and neice. Also I need to find out what's happened to my family, I explained in a previous post. I think I, as take a break from GAG as shouting at random people isn't going to help.

Lady Artsy, you are so special. Your heart is so big. Sometimes, those big hearts need help. I so strongly urge you to seek out help somewhere... I don't know how it works in the UK, but please get at least someone to talk to.

But, to your question. I love @Andres77 advice. Here's my answer to your question: if the alcohol is interfering with your relationships, or your work, or anything else in your life, then it has become an addiction. If you can't do anything without it, it's an addiction. If your waking drink and going to bed drink, it's an addiction.

That said, there are some very specific medical diagnoses about alcohol and alcohol addiction and I know next to nothing about them. What I wrote above might be completely wrong.

But, please, dear lady, find someone there to talk to!

alcohol is actually a depressant and if you feel like you don't want to get out of bed and/or taking a lot of time off from work because your feeling nauseous and shaky then it can be signs and if social anxiety becomes an issue then you might want to pick up the phone and talk to a counselor or someone close to you who suffers from alcoholism who won't judge you

This was my test,

buy some alcohol and sit it on a shelf out in the open and NOT touch it for a week.
if that bottle was controlling me then I had issues.

You need to stop drinking. Alcohol doesn't solve problems, it creates more problems and stress. You're a good person. Don't do this to yourself and your family. Please get help. I've lost too many people to Alcohol
