Are all alcoholics completely unable to drink alcohol forever?

I know I am.. but I’m saying mild alcoholics, the high functioning ones. Can they learn to drink in moderation? I’m not trolling. I’m going anonymous as I don’t want everyone knowing I’m an alcoholic.

A person's mind can creation addiction just like how it can rid of it. Though everyone is different so everyone finds it harder or easier or have different ways of doing it.
Then you can be addicted to different things for example alcohol may not be your addiction but the act of been drunk is.
In some cases especially those a person can drink a glass of wine or pint but cannot drink to get drunk otherwise they will relapse to wanting to be drunk all the time.
But on the others side you could just be addicted to how it sooths anxiety now you don't really need to be drunk for that, so any amount of alcohol can keep a person wanting more in this situation because every take calms them.
Then some people do it to punish themselves etc etc.

It evolves really about why you are doing it and if you cut out the reason to why then not relapse into sure one can do it. In most cases though people don't really resolve the issue or it triggers them back to it so overall risky.

I think most of the time when trying to drink moderately, it triggers something and it’s very easy to fall back into the addiction.
even people who were once addicted to hard drugs don’t usually drink or do something as harmless as smoking weed because they know it can be a slippery slope.

No. Alcohols differ from heavy drinkers because the alcohol has made chemical changes to brain cells. Theses changes cause you to actually need alcohol which is why simply stopping drinking can be fatal without a proper detox.

It seems some peoples brains are more prone to becoming dependent on alcohol. Once the chemical change has happened even once you dry out it can only a small amount to send to you back to the old ways.

There will always be a few who can go back to safe drinking, but why take the risk.

I believe you can learn to do anything you set your mind to including drinking moderately

I think so maybe but you would be risking it. Actually from what I've learned recently from neuroscience, no it isn't possible.

Once you cross that invisible line you just need more and more alcohol to get the same effect. As there is a irreversible chemical imbalance in the body.
