Why do some people drink alcohol with no intention of getting drunk? What’s the point of drinking if that’s not the goal?

I have no clue alcohol does not taste good nor is meant to, Ethanol is objectively an off putting substance to our body because it's poison and we know that inherently.

So when I drink yes it's only to get the purpose out of it and I drink things that are further away from the alcohol taste as possible.

Mostly because their friends expect them to drink alcohol.

Personally, I never liked the taste of alcohol, and I never got drunk.

Alcohol doesn't make me happy, or self-confident, or more talkative, on contrary, it makes me sleepy, and I have to go to the bathroom very often.

If I drink too much, I have to vomit... and go home to sleep.
