It's a lot easier to pack pancake mix than a waffle iron. Cast iron skillet can do lots of jobs in the field, but waffle iron is kind of specialized. I don't like carrying gear that only does one job.

I make the best waffles. I have a Belgian waffle maker and I buy the waffle mix from LL Bean and use an extra egg. Sometimes I put a couple of handfuls of blueberries in them.

Waffles b/c they are crispier and you can cut out your bite sizes by the lines in the waffle

As a kid I ate pancakes a lot with the works. I no longer eat pancakes. I eat the regular waffles or the chocolate chip ones now
