As a vegetarian/vegan, do you ever miss eating meat?

I was a vegetarian for five years. No I did not miss eating meat. After a while I didn't even think of it as food. It was like thinking of a rock or the carpet as food. It's just not something I thought about eating.

Meat has a strong flavor. Once you get used to not having that strong flavor, other flavors become more enhanced and you enjoy them more than you did before.

I was never a huge meat eater anyway. When I grew up we ate meat regularly, but it was not something I felt I needed with every meal to make it complete. I was never into steaks and stuff like that.

The closest thing to missing meat was the convenience of it. I was a veggie in the early 80s, and there were VERY few veggie friendly restaurants then. If you went out to eat, it usually meant eating a salad. Not that I minded, but it's nice to have some choice. Ultimately that's why I started eating meat again. I was living/working way out in the boondocks. Room and board were provided. I either ate meat, or ate nothing but bread and salad for months. So I ate meat.

Vegetarian of 9 years, vegan for 1 year. No, I really don’t cause when you think about it you never just crave plain unseasoned, not fried (everything tastes good fried lol), plain boiled chicken/meat.

You crave the flavorings you add to them, the breading, sauces and spices. Once you find a decent plant-based substitute that has enough protein and a texture you like, it’s hard to even understand why people still eat meat.
