What's the most boring cake?

Question

Cakes are great but some just are a little boring and disappointing. Two which spring to mind are battenburg cake which misleads you into thinking the sponges have different flavours but their just dry with a tiny bit jam. Then there's the granny's favourite Victorian sponge. A boring pound cake with raspberry jam. I knew someone who was forced out of the women's institute for using strawberry jam.

That dark one with dried fruit. I hate that dried fruit, or crystalized fruit, whatever it is called. As a kid every time I was in a family party I used to be excited for the cake, sometimes it was normal, other times it was nice with frosting and decor, but one day I saw what I thought would be chocolate cake and I was completely disappointed when given a dark wine cake with weird pieces of fruit that's not even sweet, I may like it now if I tried it, but I hated it so much I just don't want to take a bite of it.

Isn't just plain vanilla the most boring? Are you talking about cakes on like The Great British Baking Show? I know they repeat classics a lot but it's not like I could make cakes like that. Can you make cakes like that?

Every now and then in the US Army, the Mess Truck would make up a large flat vanilla sheet cake that had no taste whatsoever it seemed. I think the only reason I ate it was that the Mess Sergeant wanted to cheer us up which actually was the best part about it. To this day I don’t care for sheet cake.

I've never tasted either one.
Pound cake is boring, but if it had fruit jam in between it might be okay. It wouldn't even have to be raspberry.

I think coffee cake is pretty damn boring. It's usually dry.

Angel Food cake. Because "We Found A Way To Add Sugar To Styrofoam Charge You For It And Save Recycling Fees Cake" was way too long to print on the package. That and the smooth-brains that like this cake are illiterate anyway.

Sponge cake. A flavorless lump of something that can't be called cake, even a piece of cardboard tastes better.

Pour few drops of Eggnog with rum on the cake or dissolve few gram weed in warm milk that comes in the dough, maybe even both.
