Which flavor do you like better?
+1 yI like Coke Zero more because it tastes like it’s designed specifically to taste good with sugar substitute, even if the flavor’s different.
What I mean by that is Diet Coke seems to try their best to mimic the taste of Coke, as best as they can, with different ingredients.
But, it never tastes like Coke because the alternative ingredients just can’t replicate the taste of Coke. It always falls short of original Coke.
Now, with Coke Zero, it’s like the creators were like, “Okay, we can’t get it to taste like original Coke. Let’s make it taste like a new flavor then. We’re not trying to make it taste like original Coke anymore. Let’s embrace these alternative ingredients and craft a great flavor that we CAN make.”
Then boom. Coke Zero. A calorie-free drink was made with a unique but delicious flavor that’s possible with calorie-free ingredients.
It’s sort of like, instead of trying to make your apple juice taste like orange juice. Why not accept that what you have is apple juice, and just try to make a really nice-tasting apple juice? 🙂35 Reply- +1 y
…I’ve had a lot of Coke Zero and Diet Coke… 🤣

+1 yI don't remember which is which, but one of saccharin and aspartame is 300 times sweeter than sugar; the other is 600 times sweeter. Needless to say, the vast majority of the contents of that sweetener packet is just filler. Diet Coke isn't trying to taste like Coke; if it did, people would think it wasn't "diet". Coke Zero IS trying to taste like Coke- or at least, like a sugared cola of some kind.
The only real explanation is that people back in the 70's were stupider, at least when it comes to this sort of thing; the story of light beer shows that. If you're not familiar: Miller, having gained the rights to an existing beer and deciding to push it into the mainstream, initially wanted to hire athletes to promote it- but laws said you couldn't promote alcohol that way. So they used former athletes, who had no such restriction- and also had nothing to prove, PLUS they were a little older and paunchier than current guys. It was a great success, and Miller Light was a big hit- but this inspired OTHER "light" products. That too wasn't a problem, except there was no definition as to what "light" meant. Some were lighter in color or consistency; the Sara Lee "light" cheesecake actually had MORE fat and calories than the regular one, but weighed two ounces less, so it was "light" in that sense.
In the 80's, though... Look, at some point, some execs in a boardroom decided "Let's take Coca-cola, the single most successful commercial product of any kind in all of human history, and... CHANGE IT." I do not understand how anyone could be that stupid.

If your BMI is high or you have diabetes, zero. It's contains artificial sweeteners which abet cell mutations (stevia or aspartame). It's generally choice between two evils and it's better to drink sparkling water with a small shot of natural unsweetened juice.

+1 yIf you study the history of the Coca Cola company, you'll discover that Coke Zero was designed for men, while Diet Coke was designed for women. Though both are near-zero in calories, Coke Zero has much more caffeine than Diet Coke.
I fit the design mold. I prefer Coke Zero.20 Reply 731 opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. Neither as that they virtually same product both contain the same sweeteners (Aspartame, Acesulfame K), which have a foul after-taste that lingers for hours, they are only labelled differently because guys do not like to be seen drinking a 'Diet' drink.
