I'm not too sure where it originates or where it comes from in any way, my guess would be the middle East somewhere but it's really good, for the people that don't know or haven't tried it, the best way to describe it is that the texture is like powderized wet compressed sand but has a unique flavor and is sweet.

Halva is not the name of a dish. Halva only means something that has been created by mashing up ingredients.

In edibles, it is used synonymously with a sweet pastry made from varying ingredients.

What you have in the picture is just one form of a halva end product.

I like halva made of pistachios or sesame seed but I'm full after two small pieces because it's fatty and mostly too sweet.
