What alcohol do you make egg nog with?

Different recipes call for different types of alcohol but the three most common are brandy, rum, and whisky. So what do you make yours with?

I’ve only tried the alcohol free versions at Starbucks and I thought it had a very sweet but neutral taste with inflated calories to go along with it. It wasn’t bad, but if I’m going to have a high calorie drink, then I want a unique and complex and organic flavour to it.

If I make it, I would make it with rum. I never have but some of my family members make it with rum, and we call it "coquito".

I don’t drink but my partner swears by coffee liqueurs (khalua) for him, rum is the way to go.

I once made a coffee liquor for Christmas. Bottled it up in a dark beer bottle with a ceramic ring top. It was too strong, though, so next time I will use less stronger coffee.
