But what of you? Do you agree with your countries ranking?
Do you agree with your countries position on this food list?

I think Poland Greece japan and possibly Portugal are wrong.
They should be further from the top. I’m surprised us in on there at all considering a lot of the artificial ingredients widespread and the minor loss of food traditions or cuisine culture being used. Then again it should be number one because of its diversity and the cuisines I have tasted around have been quite delicious. Especially eastern coast USA. We even have chef Gordon who has helped many restaurants and he’s the best isn’t he? Well isn’t he? I don't know for sure lol. India seems wrong to me but maybe I don’t give them enough credit. I feel like Jamaica and china should be up there with Italy and the us. Those regions in New York taste well and Florida has some pretty fresh ingredients too.
I feel like United States is too high on the list honestly. Also Italy and Greece didn't surprise me at all but Japan being that high did. Not that they are bad at cuisine at all but that high did surprise me. I figured France would be up there instead.
Don't know much about food, but I can definitely see why Italy's on the top of the list 😉
Yeah Italy, Greece and France I would put at the top in my opinion. Mexico and any Caribbean/South American cuisine as well.
Thai food as well
You have Italian ancestry, right?
I'm half Italian.
Other half?
Dutch/Irish
My own top 10 would be:
1. Italian
2. Korean
3. Thai
4. Indian
5. Chinese
6. Middle Eastern
7. Mexican
8. Indonesian
9. USA
10. Vietnamese
I'm not familiar with a lot of the other ones.
Israel shouldn't even be on the list. It tries to pass Palestinian food off as Israeli.
USA at 16 is too high. There is very little American cuisine... almost all of it is borrowed from other countries. About eh only true American cuisine is hot dogs, hamburgers. mac n cheese, and pizza, and I don't think people would rate those as excellent foods.
If they don’t deserve 16, then the countries they borrowed from don’t necessarily deserve their ranking either. Were the list entitled “Most Unique Cuisines”, your argument would be stronger.
Plus, differences between some dishes are minimal like the spice palette or oils they use to cook.
I gotta disagree. There's Southern style BBQ, tri-tip, Club Sandwiches, cheesesteak, Gumbo, BLT, sundae, banana bread, cornbread, banana pudding, S'more, pecan pie, and more. I'm biased, but a good southern style BBQ place is one of the best meals. Lobsters were also first eaten by Native American's I believe. You could make a strong argument for American being top 20.

I've been to over 30 countries and for the most part, food in the US sucks.
If it's not chain restaurants or GMO, it's old produce without any flavor. Sure there are some great restaurants, but for the most part I'm underwhelmed.
For example. I went to France last year to visit a friend. We were in central France and the shops close for the weekend. So we went to the grocery store to stock up. I grabbed a baguette with a label that said 07:40, which is the time it was baked. When I checked out it was about noon. the cashier asked me, "if you want the old bread, I'll give you a 50% discount'. To them bread that's six hours from the oven is 'old'. Not bread with preservatives that's been sitting on the shelf for a week. Everything's organic (the EU bans GMO's) and at the market you are getting everything farm fresh.
Being in NYC, we get a lot of produce from CA which is already a week old and it's flavorless because it never ripened correctly.
Mexico's cuisine is actually cuisine... and also regarded as "heritage to humanity"
the ranking seems about right...
now I am really wondering about what all kinds of great would Portuguese cuisine be... and how come I rarely hear about it... but I am not surprised at all though...
Portugal has been the port of the world
I've been to some of these countries or their restaurants. We should definitely rank higher. I assure you, the American versions of most of these foods are WAY better than the original versions. And the interesting thing about the U. S. is that we have food from all over the world. So if you include all those, and not just stereotypical "American" foods, then we should be ranked much higher.
And I agree. This list must've been made by an Italian. Italian food is so simple and boring. Like you said, anyone can make it. Hell, I make better Chicken Afredo at home.
I'll answer for Poland too. Poland should rank higher than some of these as well, especially if you take food hygiene into consideration. It doesn't matter if Indian food tastes good, if it makes you run to the toilet every 5 minutes, it's not among the "best".
That’s a pretty friendly rating for America, if we’re being honest. Plenty of good food here, but I don’t feel like we can claim the recipes, or at least not the basic concepts that we just put an American spin on. I feel like we do lead the league in junk food though, haha
Welsh Cakes alone should have Wales ahead of Ethiopia or Finland for that matter as they eat a lot of reindeer. I think there is a lot wrong with this list including China as I have been there and wow… just wow… jellyfish is like eating bubblewrap.
Man, I can't decide what's the uncontested one and only number one.
It would be a tie between Italy (specifically pizza), Thailand, Mexico, India, Türkiye (specifically Kebab Sandwiches), Uzbekistan, America, Germany, China.
These all have godly food inventions.
No, I disagree; some of the best chefs are from the UK. Furthermore, I think it is offensive that American cuisine is so highly regarded while coming from other nations; in other words, it isn't even American, and I can't think of any American chefs who are as well-respected as their British counterparts.
@KostasKouvalis Oh, that's the thing about "celebrity." One of the best chefs is Paul Bocuse. He is a chef, that's all, and he doesn't want to be thought of as a celebrity. Look him up on Google if you don't know who he is. Again, chefs in the UK and around Europe take their work very seriously and are not interested in celebrity titles. Anthony is the one chef you listed that I am familiar with and really enjoy.
My problem with such a list is, we don't have the German cuisine. There are at least five or six regional cuisines that are vastly different.
Plus Alcase and Swiss-German cuisine
England not even on the list then lol, I get your point!, amazed Phillipines is 33rd, their food is really shit, that's why they all eat at McD etc,,,
England is 39
First third yes that fits. wouldn't put us in the top 10 but in the first third fits. We dont have that much speciality but that what we do we do good. Also you can actually get full from our food. Not high society leave the restaurant with an empty stomach kind of food. Worst thing is, that all people allways think about bavarian food when thinking of germany.
Georgia 🇬🇪 deserves a place in TOP 20, don’t understand why it’s the 26th, whole Eastern Europe, Western Asia and Middle East loves our cuisine.
USA at 16? WTF? I guess someone likes fried fair food. There is no way someone with taste buds thinks American food is equal with Thai food and better than Korean and Vietnamese food.
Largely yes. In fact I think Canada is too high on the list. We invented poutine. Big deal. Any jerk off can grab a plate of french fries and dump a bunch of gravy and melted cheese on top of it.
US number 16? Aren't a lot of holiday foods we have taken from other places? Just saying.
Nope not at all Irish food should be in top 15 at least
Somewhat but I'm quite surprised it surpassed some countries that i thought has better cuisine than ours.
I'm surprised Taiwan, Jamaica and Saudi Arabia is that low. I dont think thats accurate
I don't agree qith this list entirely not just where my country is on it. (And yes my country is far too low)
I tend to not agree to anything ''official''.
Even more so: emotionally, I have no ''my-country''.
That's why I consider ''my'' position to be accurate enough.
Thai and Persian should be higher on the list
USA at 16?
That makes this list a total joke. It would be lucky to squeeze into the top 100.
