It's a pack of bacon fried with onions, topped with sliced potatoes then simmered in beef stock until cooked and thick before arranging artistically on a plate and serving with bread.

Hmmm. Looks like a good way to clog your arteries. If you don't have money a much better option is wheat bread, peanut butter, and canned vegetables. All of that is pretty low fat and low cholesterol and cheap, plus you get the multi-veggies, and high protein. As long as you don't add any other sugar throughout the day, the sugar level is fine with the PB. And it is also sodium level acceptable. Yep, I know all about cheap nutrition, I was once a literal starving artist. Literally. You get real creative and very knowledgeable when you come from two poor families and were a struggling artist.
It probably tastes alright, but have Brits ever heard of veggies or seasonings?
Blimey, mate, I don't know 'bout you, but I reckon you're right in saying 'Tatws pum munud' is a load of tripe. I mean, potatoes takin' half an hour? What's the world comin' to? I'd be more inclined to call it 'Tatws pum gwymnyn' - 'potatoes that take ages.' I'd rather be engaging in a spot of good old fashioned cricket. Sure beats twiddling me thumbs, waiting for these blasted bastards, isn't it?
Now that's what I call a proper supper! Mind you, it's all in good fun, like my collection of geography quizzes and torture devices.
She is back.π€£π€£π€£
@RickDΡck I like your wording. If you were to take IELTS, you would get 8.5 at least.
I love the British people so much but 😂 the food at this point has to be a practical joke. Mushy pees? Just putting everything on toast? What is going on?
I will say the full English breakfast is amazing though.

I think inmates would revolt
Didn't Oliver and the Artful Dodger eat that at the orphan boys' home? They called it gruel if I recall. Must be good... "May I have some more?" he asked.
Gruel is just a thin porridge soup. Modern day oat milk is basically watered down gruel.
@purplepoppy I would eat this, and probably enjoy it.
Looks similar (sort of) a dish here ham and scalloped potatoes.
The thing about British food is that it never looks that appetizing, but it's always pretty tasty and filling and cheap. Roast beef, potatoes, bacon, onions, buttered bread, etc. It's just a good hearty meal.
Looks like prison/school food but if you made it, it probably tastes good
I have come home completely arseholed and off my tits, then had a pot noodle sandwich, never would I do that. One part says it will taste fine the other is fuck Iβve been sick on my plate.
A pot noodle sandwich ππ
@butterly248 okay you can do posh and toast to bread first,
Just beans on toast mate lmao
@butterly248 you need curry powder in those beans though
No just cheese
Oh wait I forgot you're a northerner lol
No offence π
@butterly248 π€£π€£π€£ bloody posh southerners lol
I'm a Scottish lass actually. Just been down here for too long. Need to go home soon!
On my way back up, I'll yet all the curry powder to you ππ€£
@butterly248 lmao deal
If I ever want to buy a house I'll need to go back home. Prices are ridiculous
@butterly248 yeah itβs a bit shocking down here tbh
A pot noodle sandwich well thatβs something new lol Iβve never heard that lol π€£
I will have to try that with my sticky rib pot noodle sometime
I like chicken but not mushroom so it wouldnβt work with me
Youβve inspired me for a question Iβve uploaded
this might be controversial but Bristish/Irish/ Scottish food looks disgusting but takes absolutely delicious
The ingredients and cooking method sounds really delicious to me despite looking horrifying!
Never heard of it, but it sounds delicious. Without the stock, it would be Bratkartoffel, fried potatoes, with an egg instead of the stock it could be a Spanish tortilla.
I've never had it, and I am a picky eater, but I would definitely try this. All the ingredients are on my green light list.
I would definitely eat this. My wife probably would too, but she's really "carb conscious" these days.
Are you in Wales?
That doesn't look the most appetizing to me but it actually sounds really, really good. I'd to be happy to try it. I'm surprised you managed to get it so thick without adding any thickening agent like corn starch.
Does the starch from the sliced potatoes act as a thickener in this case?
I'm sorry but it looks so unappetising. It seems healthy at least.
it seems like it would be really filling, but doesn't look the greatest lol
I would eat that, probably toss in some burger just because.
I donβt know how i feel about the pic 🤣 tbh if you gave me that I wouldnβt eat it
That plate is chipped. Missing some color in the food but otherwise looks alright.
I thought it was beef stew but bacon is involved as well.
Used to do it with baked beans instead of beef stock
I made something similar last week. I called it stew.
They must've gotten that recipe when they colonized India
That's Tattie Ash in the North of England, served with Pickled Red Cabbage.
It's food that is only good for driving your cholesterol through the roof. It might taste ok but it definitely isn't healthy.
Why is it that disgusting colour? I mean literally how do you make bacon and potatoes look like stale vomit?
It looks nasty but it's actually very nice!
It's nice but definitely not appealing visually 🤣
With all due to respect mam, that shit looks ass
gotta taste to be able to judge
Looks delicious
Reminds me of detestable liver and onions
@purplepoppy prison food for sure 😆
It looks like dog barf.
A Yogurt Cupful for Me. xxoo
Must be nice to afford Bacon.
I'm sorry, but it looks like vomit.
It literally looks vomit
😐😐😐😐
Eeeeew!
