Does anyone know how to guarantee moist back pork ribs in a slow cooker?

I’ve only made them twice in a slow cooker, while they are tender, they tend to be very dry. I usually add two cups of water. Recipes I’ve read call for bbq sauce but no one likes it on their ribs, so I don’t use it. Any suggestions?
