If you had to kill and butcher your own meat, would you still eat meat?

I have no ethical problem at all with the idea of individuals humanely killing and then processing animals for food. It's actually more ethical than buying packaged meat of factory farmed animals that lived horrible lives and were slaughtered inhumanely.

We have deer, quail, turkeys, jackrabbits and squirrels on our property. If if came down to starving, I would take some when necessary. Better yet, I might raise rabbits.

We had a few chickens for a while until a bobcat got them. We loved the fresh eggs. But I would have to build a much better coop to have chickens again.

I have hunted dove and quail. They are actually easy to clean.

My only problems are 1) I've never cleaned larger animals. I would have to learn how. 2) I would also have to learn the art of butchering. 3) I would need to buy a chest freezer in which to store the meat.

I could do it with fish and with an animal that was hostile and tried to attack me, but I wouldn't normally go out and hunt a fuzzy animal to eat that didn't try attacking me. I'd just grow more food, and I would keep a cow for milk and chickens for eggs instead.

Nah i already don't eat meat but I do accidentally kill animals a lot. I almost hit a huge deer with my car yesterday so I guess I'd kill animals for others to eat lol

I don't hunt, but I intentionally learned to clean a deer because I think it's a good skill to know. I've also fished and eaten them. Overall, I think fishing is a much easier way to get some good food value.

The picture looks like a professional butcher. He's got the hoist right on his truck. The kind of butcher who goes out to the farms instead of the farmers taking the animals to town.

Yes, it doesn't really bother me , I prefer not to see it happen , but we do what we have to do to get food , so I don’t really let it bother me. I like to fish and hunt as well on occasion and I have no problem eating what I catch or hunted. I have somewhat of a survival instinct and know if I was stranded on an island somewhere , I would be able to survive and do what I had to do to survive.

If I had to I would eat human. if your talking about I have to live then I would so this is my answer to anything if I had to. And any animal would or die to leave behind those ones that would which solves the problem as no more animals that wouldn't would cease to exist.
There was a type of bird that in the winter resorted to eating sheep's in the winter yet in summer all they eat is fruit. It's just what animals do we adapt.

Hunting is alien to regular people in the UK. The upper class toffs use to, and behind prying eyes still do probably. Seeing all that blood and guts though? That would put me right off eating it.

nope because I don't like killing things. If you had to build your own car to drive, would you be driving or walking from now on? if you had to build your own phone... if you had to sew your own clothes... if you had to pay your own wages. The reason people exist to do those things is because not everyone can/wants to do them for themselves, but the end product is still useful to society.
