There used to be a Christmas loaf here and people would go house to house sampling each others cakes. If you ate 13 you were predicted to get married within a year. I looked at the recipe and apart from the shape it's panettone, unsurprisingly it was most common in areas with high levels of Italian immigrants so they probably introduced it.
I like panettone but stollen is better.
I absolutely love it. Infact it's one of the main sweet things I eat around Christmas time.
Thank you!!
Yes I do itβs always in the stores around Christmas time
Panettone is a delightful tradition during the Christmas season. A good panettone should have a light, fluffy texture, a slight tang from the natural fermentation process, and a perfect balance of sweetness. Essential ingredients include high-quality flour, eggs, butter, sugar, and naturally dried fruits like raisins and candied orange peel. The natural yeast or sourdough starter gives it that unique flavor and airy texture. It reminds me of strolling through the festive streets of Milan, where the aroma of freshly baked panettone fills the air. 🎄🧈🍞
