I’m a little taken aback here, as I’ve never heard of a sausage sandwich NOT in a sub/hero roll🤔

It’s almost always whole, the exception being a sausage parmigiana sub, in which case they’re usually sliced into “coins” and served in marinara sauce with mozzarella cheese and maybe grilled onions and peppers….

Square , on a crusty morning roll , with a square tatty scone and a fried runny egg preferably. If it has to be “links” then they have to be Cumberland , halved lengthwise on sourdough bread with hp sauce or full fat mayonnaise.

None of the above! Tube sausage eaten from a 8" brat bun, while patty style sausage in a burger bun. Any sausage goes well without any bun such as breakfast sausage, some is crumbled of pinches of on pizza, or cut up and used in many different cajun recipes or different soups.

If I make a sausage sandwich I will use Cumberland Sausage cut to roughly 6" lengths and sliced length ways after cooking Preferably in fresh baked bread, Or a slice of proper fresh Beef Lorne Sausage in a plain Tea Cake or Bap, NOT the frozen square sausage that claims to be Lorne Sausage but is usually ice more than ant thing else.

My father taught me to slice a sausage lengthwise, almost all the way through, then hinge it open when frying it in the pan, put it between two slices of bread, and eat it like a sandwich.

What sandwich? You either eat them in a hot dog bun or on their own. Do you all eat hot dogs on wonder bread when in the same aisle in the supermarket has hot dog buns? Lol I'm so confused. Maybe a NY Italian American thing but if I saw a person eating a hot dog or sausage in anything but a hot dog bun or the nice ones made for bigger sausages, I'd run. Lol

I've never eaten one of these :) We do eat the sausage and bread together but we just take a bite from the sausage and then a bite of bread and that's it :)
