Cumberland sausage is very popular in the UK and is sold either in regular sausage links or in traditional spirals, the better quality usually being the latter.
Most likely it started off as a Roman sausage such as Luganega which is still sold in Italy. Interestingly the latin salsīcia gives you the Italian Salsiccia, the welsh selsig, breton silzig, and the Cornish sesigen. The Cumbric language is extinct but probably had a similar word.
But I digress, how do you feel about long sausages? Do you prefer them in one long piece or ready twisted into easier to handle links.

Not a fan of a long sausage at all. Sausages are super highly processed and I only allow myself them very very infrequently for the whole remaining cancer free thing 😂. I much prefer a short juicy one that leaves me wanting. I could barely take the tip of that 😝
The sausage I'd exactly the same either way, the way you're going to eat iy is probably the only thing that matters about which way you get it. I make sausages all of the time and if I'm going to eat it off a plate with a knife and fork I tend to use the long curled sausage but if I eat it in a sausage roll or bun I tend to use links.
