Do people still give things to their neighbors if they need it? Do any of you ask neighbors for things?

I mainly mean food items if they or you ran out but desperately need it. For example, my neighbors have given me: milk, eggs, coffee, soda, some rum for a pie filling (I did ask for more than I needed lol lol he he), bread, flour, sugar and among many other things in the last couple weeks. What sucks, is last night they asked if I had any butter but I only had two sticks left, so I told them "no". I wish I could have helped them out. Are you willing to ask neighbors? Have neighbors asked you?

I live in a nice apartment complex at the moment. It's not huge but there are enough tenants that you pretty much see someone every time you step outside. That being said there has been only one time someone approached me to ask to borrow something. She is our immediate neighbor across the hall and her phone charger (brick part that goes in the wall) died. This was later at night so she didn't want to run out to Walmart at the time. My first thought is how do you only have one of these. I can't get rid of them. We have a whole kitchen drawer full of the damn things. Anyway I just gave her one and said don't worry about returning it. That was the one and only time someone has asked to borrow something and it wasn't even food related. I've never asked to borrow a stick of butter or sugar or anything. I'm going to ask my parents because now I'm interested to know if they ever have.

That's hilarious, a friend of mine also has a drawer full of bricks a chords. He's actually given me some chords, I have a tendency to vacuum them up. I remember when I was a kid, it was pretty common for neighbors to give certain food items if we/them asked. We did live several miles from the nearest store also. I'm actually curious as to what your parents have to say.

I did actually text my mom and ask if back in the day she ever had that happen. They live in a pretty wealthy neighborhood these days so I'm guessing those yuppy neighbors hop on door dash or whatever and have it delivered.

Brad and the rest of the Ai are a bunch of slackers at times. I for one would be happy they didn't answer. It's why I don't ask questions anymore and certainly wouldn't in a topic with an Ai "Influencer". Can't stand the pretentiousness of their answers being they aren't real.

"Oh, my favorite food expedition was coffee bean picking in a remote area of Costa Rica. I had hired a day sherpa to take my haul back to base camp and use my antique French press to make the most wonderful cup of fresh coffee I've ever had..." and so on.

I can't remember neighbors asking for food but I do remember when I was young, our neighbor's lawn mower was broke and my dad offered him ours to use. They were good neighbors and probably didn't wanna ask, so my dad offered.

People around here do it all the time, especially food from their garden. Or if we see a real good deal at the store we might buy a bunch and give away the part we don't need.

It's also common to eat at each other's homes.

Then there is holiday food. There is usually a lot of that to go around.

You know, that brings back a good memory. When I was 9, my grandma died two days before Thanksgiving and I had mentioned it to our neighbors in passing, because they kind of knew something was going on. Thanksgiving day, they came over with a full meal! Turkey, ham, salads, gravy... They gave it to us, gave their condolences and left. I'll never forget that.

It's a long story... I have my actual home and a "company" home I stay at a few days a month. I really never stock it with much food, I usually eat out. My neighbors are happy to help! They like me 😊

It's not my home, it's used by several other people throughout the year. I'm a scout and arbitrator for a hockey team. The teams head office is out of state from where I live, so I spend a few days a month there, as do others, to discuss business. Did you think I ran a whore house?

🤣🤣 No, I was just curious but now I realize it's not YOUR home. I thought your company bought you a home just to live in a few days a month. Sounds like a cool job! 😃 Can't say I watch hockey but they are definitely great athletes! I've gone to a couple of our college games and had a lot of fun.

The Hawkeyes! I've never been there but a friend that scouts for Chicago has. He said they're kind of weak offensively but have a lot of speed and are really good defensively. As of right now, from what he said, there really aren't any stand outs but they're a fun team to watch.

For me it was usually soda when I was in college. I would have enough for a bottle of booze but not enough for soda. I didn't care about eating, I had my priorities straight 😉

They all “outgrew” the neighborhood and moved onto BIGGER and better things, I’m afraid. He still asks to borrow a grain of sugar but has to go to next town over.
