Rant incoming: we have had some pretty decent neighbors, at worst they will wave if you wave, at best, they have taken care of our mail while on vacation and checked on our house during hurricanes. Recently one of our oldest neighbors had her husband pass away. They were just cool people who always looked out for us and us them. On occasion, we did go over and vice versa for lunch. She told us the 2 story was just too much house for her now, and she was moving away, but she was glad that the family buying the house were a nice young couple with a daughter. We were so happy to hear that.
They arrived around late June, and when July 4th came about, we decided we would give them a huge meal of all our extra BBQ we'd made, ribs, checken, sausage, brisket, the works. They were from the south, so we figured more than likely not vegetarians, however, just in case, we packed in a huge salad as well. We also gave them a whole pie, and a nice long note about who we were, how long we'd lived there, and if they needed anything, we're literally directly across from them.
We walked over the give it to them and an older woman we hadn't seen in their moving process opened the door. She said she was the woman's mother and she would take the bag for us. Very nice woman. Uh, three full weeks went by and we heard not a single word. We went from being confused, to angry, like who doesn't respond to a gift like that. Three weeks later we get a short note that was like, "thanks, we were sick." I'm sorry, if you could "manage" to text that, I'm pretty sure 3 weeks ago, you could have managed to say thank you. Since then, they have ignored us. When we are out in the yard, when we wave, they pretend to not see us. It's insane. At first, I thought, oh just us but the other neighbors of the same race are treated the same exact way. Our other neighbor who also has young kids also said he tried to contact them for a playdate, and they ignored him too. What kind of a-hole people do this and call themselves neighbors?
Yeah, they come over and we get along really well. In fact, my neighbor even made me food today.
Wow. Have you guys hooked up?
When I was a kid I'd play with the neighbors. Sometimes I'd invite them over to play super smash bros, sometimes they invited me over to watch movies.
People seem much more reserved and cold these days.
I think It's the social media.
Around the time that stuff starting picking up steam is when people started to become so disillusioned.
Oh definitely covid.
Sometimes we visit each other, like for birthdays. Sleeping together hasn't happened yet. Unfortunately

Tbh my neighborhood is filled me happy chill retired people who once had very reputable jobs. And they all treat my dad like their son and the old men with my dad go for a walk every morning. They make sure to drink coconut water after walk too, each day, someone else pays and this happens in rotation.
They come over to my home once in a few weeks and we have a nice hearty evening party. Most of their kids are living abroad and rarely come to the country so they pamper me and my sister, and we're the only kids in the colony, a lot.
My favourite is the sociology and psychology professor who has a huge library in his home filled with old books. He gifted me 2 too!

I'm even planning on writing a book on them cuz they had pretty interesting lives.
They come over, yes. Occasionally. Nothing like the sitcoms. Your house should also be a place where you can retreat yourself, when you don't feel like being social. That becomes harder if you expect neighbors to act like in the sitcoms.
And no, I never had sex with a neighbor either 🤣
No, nearest I've got was their front door handing over the bottle of Christmas wine and their back garden, firstly when they pulled the heating system out and I saved them a trip by sticking it into my shed (best part of £200 scrap) rather than them borrowing a van to dump it and secondly when the storm tore the fence apart so it was a joint effort moving the panels out of the way
Absolutely NOT. I don't even invite my friends to my house LOL.
My home is a sanctuary for me and my Partner and like to have a quiet house.
Some yes other don't do.
As I got my house from my parents 'nice' neighbor's wife came and gave me a cheesecake. Traditionally it's Bread and Salt but no one is backing bread today.
She is very interested in my father but somehow too old for him. XD
Not really. IfI see one out tin the yard I might go over and talk. When I first moved here 25 years ago we used to hang out sometimes but now we are all old and set in our ways. Some have died.
We live really rural but sometimes we have cookouts or something and invite them over. In winter we check on each other after we get buried under a gaziilion feet of snow. 😳
A few of our neighbors come over to our house, and we sometimes go to theirs. We don't sleep with any of them though.
Only when they get my stuff in the post. That's happened more than once. Be careful what you order, is my advice.

I have only had one neighbor that I used to hang out with.
Maybe 1 family will come over once in a while to see how things are going. Nothing like neighborhood relationships seen on tv
Sometimes my neighborhood Dave does but normally we just meet on the grass and chat. But he's also a close friend of my dads so it's not like he's someone I don't know.
in Mexico, yes...
in Texas... I barely know them, lol
Nope, some of my old neighbors actually did, but they don't live here anymore.
Not without consequence. But thankfully I don't have any anymore.
Yes my neighbors and I get along well together
The only neighbor that used to come over to my house no longer lives here.
They have but not many times.
Yes. But Edith and I had a disagreement. Lombs fell on her van and pickup at the end of 22. I called my homeowners insurance before I talked to her as she was gone. Returning we spoke and she was pleased. She said she was going to call her car insurance on Monday. We'll my insurance checked it all out and refused as it was an "act of God." But I have a good neighbor policy which offered her a thousand dollars. She spit and cussed the man on the phone woke me up 4 days during the week to ask me questions knowing I got off work at 6:30 AM. I became pissed and had a Mexican female friend speak with her thinking it was because of the language barrier as she is Mexican. But no, my friend and another person said she speaks English better than Spanish. Well she sued me in small claims. My insurance paid for lawyers and I didn't even have to attend. She lost and it was bad for a while. She let her dog loose and he would be on my porch when coming home from work. He barked at me and followed me around on my mower yapping. I asked her to get her dog and she laughed while sitting in a lawn chair watching everything. So I went and called the dog catcher. Long story shortened. She put a criminal trespass on me so I reciprocated. We're better now. I think she finally saw that I did everything I could.
Never. I don't even know their names.
Hell no haha we just greet each other and move on!
Not here lol. They'd be tourists
Heck no!
Yes, but we don't fck with our neighbours they have a family and we have our family that a big no.
