Cumin versus curry powder?

I've started making curries from raw ingredients

I'm vegetarian by the way.

I discovered I prefer the taste when I didn't use curry powder

And what I use is:

Cumin
Paprika
Black pepper
Peri peri

I also add jalapenos and maybe sricacha


I find curry powder is a little bit nauseating and icky

And I don't know what's in it I don't like

Because you think when making a curry you have to use curry powder!
