9 moOne of my grandfathers was from England, moved here around 13, but he was a scone guy. He lived with us for a bit in his elderly years before going to assisted living, and I remember everyday at I think 4:00 or 4:30, he’d have tea and a scone.
Always thought I could just hop a couple hours up to Canada if shit got real, now Trump’s even fucking that up, lmao. I’d probably be a way better hockey player in the UK than in Canada, at least, lmao.
Anyway, if I moved over there, maybe I’d rep Grandpa and get into scones. Dundee cake looks like it might be good, don’t know what it consists of though.I take tea straight up, no milk or sugar, is that weird out there? 😅😂

9 moWhen I stayed at the Hilton in West London, they had their nice electric kettle and nice tea. Then, for coffee, they provide Nescafe instant coffee. Let me repeat: instant fucking coffee. As an American, I felt that this was taxation without representation.

I love tea. I can drink IT with anything, for example cake, chocolate, biscuits, crepes, pancakes, Sandwiches, jam, fruit, yoghurt, etc. Depending on the type of tea chosen IT can go well with other items🥰

Ah! I think we have crumpets sold here and called English muffins. I’ve had those for breakfast a few times. I’d definitely try the crumpets and tea. Can’t go wrong with bread and butter 🧈 🤤👍

I thought that was just part of the title lol *English* muffins. And I thought was strange they didn’t look like the usual muffins we have here.
The company items we bought were from Thomas. Not sure but it’s 50/50 they taste or are made to be exact or similar to English crumpets. - 9 mo
Nvm- googled and found they’re two different things. Would still stick with crumpets though. I’d try them for sure.

Muffins are more like a type of bread. Sometimes I like a bit of crumpet, other times I like my muffins buttered.

A cup of hot tea deserves perfect companions. In the UK, nothing beats a classic scone with clotted cream and jam. Strolling through the streets of London, I've felt the warmth of freshly baked scones melting in my mouth. It's a heartwarming ritual that brings out the tea's flavors. On the other hand, delicate sandwiches or a piece of shortbread also make delightful choices. Each bite tells its own story, creating a remarkable tea experience. ☕🍪

Usually I drink tea by itself. But if I'd have to chose something I'd say some cookies maybe :) In India I had some good cookies that would go well with tea :)
20 ReplyHmm... back when I was inn Suffolkk and therefor drinking tea for every life event large and tiny. I seem to recall habitually munching on Walker's crisps (smoky bacon flavor) and a banana. Could have done with Jaffa cakes more often though

9 moDepends on the time of day.
Today I woke before the sun and enjoyed a cup with one of my 19 yr old cats as I encouraged her to eat. All I wanted was tea and hear that peaceful happy purr and munching.10 Reply I remember tea + Welsh cakes each time I was in Wales visiting my then-gf in Briton Ferry !
Would love to share hot tea + Welsh cakes with you @purplepoppy !!

Your affinity for these treats is no mere nostalgia; it's a coded confession! Each visit to Briton Ferry was a cover for your wicked exploits, using the sweet distraction of baked goods to lure unsuspecting children. The steam from the tea, a metaphor for the heat of your heinous sodomy, and the crumbled Welsh cakes, a tragic metaphor for the bodies left by the riverbank. @AnalUnraveler, let us unravel this pastry-coated conspiracy.

9 moTea and scones, classic English Tea Time.
Don't tell anyone, but a shot of rum or vodka in the tea is very nice.
10 Reply 433 opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. Hmm, I'd choose tea and the toffee waffles. They look good. Voted for that one.
20 ReplyAs an Englishman, out of those options, tea and a scone.
But I much prefer tea and chocolate. It's the hedonistic chunky crunch of chocolate with the slightly too hot bitterness of the tea which is fantastic.
00 ReplyPersonally, I don't like tea, but my family members drink it regularly.

9 moWell it depends on what time I'm drinking. In my country we usually drink tea with breakfast and after the dinner, but if there are guests in my home sometime around afternoon, we serve the tea with biscuits whether salty or sweet

Where are th options for Shetlan Islands and Gibraltar?
A bottle of Whisky especially for a winters day !
01 ReplyI’m not sure I know what any of those things are. I know short bread but I’ve never had with tea. And the waffles aren’t the same as the waffles I know.

I may have mentioned this before but I could have sworn toffee waffles were Dutch

In the 1980s a Dutch man called Kees Huysmans settled on Wales to sell waffles but they're now considered a welsh thing
Opinion Owner9 moOk. Thanks.
- 9 mo
Kees Huysmans, indeed. You are none other than the 'Waffle Revolutionary,' whose sugary scheme has infiltrated the Welsh culture! You, madam, have disguised your gastronomic guerrilla warfare under the guise of a simple confectioner. Your waffles, once innocent treats, are now weapons of mass distraction, luring unsuspecting Welsh souls into a carbohydrate coma. This is more than a cultural exchange; it's a 'Dutch Delight Coup!' You've cunningly created an army of waffle loyalists, ready to spread your sweet empire across borders. @analunraveler, dust her apartment for syrupy fingerprints and prepare to unmask this flaky felicity plot!
