Personally I go for a mix of different types of beer and cider as I like variation plus if I've visitors it's nice to offer a choice.

I no longer drink beer, but when I did I tended to get one type in quantity and some single bottles of various different things, new ones or something that might catch my eye. Might be Satan's Red, or Double Chocolate Ale, something thrice hopped whatever grabbed the curiosity.
Now I taste whiskeys. Just taste, not go three sheets... and I do like to try different varieties, may watch people tasting things on youtube and give 'em a go so I tend to have several bottles about at a time. Currently I'm down to two: Buffalo Trace Bourbon, and Powers Three Swallow Irish Whiskey. Both are quite nice.
Actually, I never buy alcohol. There is not a drop of alcohol in my place. My principle is that you can have much more fun without alcohol than you will ever have with it. The reason is simple.
People that are sober respect others more than those that are intoxicated. There is less to no inappropriate discussions and there is no one that stinks like alcohol.
Now, if I had to buy alcoholic beverages for a reason or another, then it would obviously be the one type of alcohol with the smallest percent of alcohol in it like naturally fermented beverages like kombucha, which often have an alcohol by volume of 0.05% to 1.5%.
Typically, it would be one single small bottle per guest. That would make me buy the same type of drink but just enough for the consumption of that evening.
My stomach sensitive to alcohol so I tend to stick with stuff that I know won’t upset it. If someone offers me a taste of something I haven’t tried before I will try it and eventually buy a small amount for myself to see how my stomach handles it. If it’s all good then I add it to my “safe to buy in bulk” list and if not, I just don’t buy it again.
I don't buy beer.
I drink red wines and have an assortment of those in my cellar.
I have a huge assortment of liquors and liqueurs in my cabinet. I don't drink much, so I have had most of those for years.
I love mixing it up too 🍺🍷
Keeping a few favorites consistent is comforting, like a reliable lager or a smooth red. But I always add new bottles: a craft IPA, a funky sour, maybe a Japanese whisky or Italian amaro. It feels like stocking a tiny bar at home, and guests enjoy discovering something they’ve never tasted before.

I don’t like beer most women don’t like beer. I don’t see what you see in it. it taste like cat piss smells Beer. I don’t buy alcohol but if I’m gonna drink, I’d rather have a rum and Coke or a piña colada a man’s drink Rum and Coke a tough guy drink like me 💪
Time difference I've been up since 4am
I hope you don’t think of me as just an American tough guy of course I’m a tough guy, but I’m just being friendly with you talking about my reputation that I have but it’s always in self-defense. I never start trouble. I like to play along with your sense of humor. In your questions
I don't drink beer but in my experience people buy one type per session even if on different days they might buy different brands.
I'm a whiskey gal. And I too buy one brand - a favourite - but other brands and sometimes rum instead other times. But I don't mix my spirits. Amd dont keep multiple bottles stashed for use.
There’s happy drinks, sad drinks, solo drinks, group drinks, celebration drinks, commiserations drinks…
So I try to keep it varied in order to have something for every occasion
But I don’t drink often and never alone so my stock is rarely drained
I mix it up. Beer, red and white wine, Gin, Bourbon, Tequila, Rum, Vodka. As you noted it's nice to be able to offer guests a choice. And some meals just taste better with a beer, others with a red wine, and others with a white wine. On a hot day, a gin and tonic is refreshing. At night the bourbon in a Manhattan or an Old Fashioned may go better with winding down your day.
Hmmm. I do both.
I love my martinis. It would break the bank if I bought all of my favorite gins. Usually, I get a few of them, a few top shelf yummies and occasionally something new.
Beer in The States is disappointing. We love our TLAs* so for every lager, there are eight disappointing IPAs. I always have beer on hand for friends.
*TLA - Three Letter Acronym
Both! But I've decided I should prolly just buy my own liquor store. 😊
I usually buy a mix so will keep a decent bottle of vodka, a couple of scotches (I currently have 5), a bottle of Irish, maybe bourbon or Canadian, some liquors for variety
I currently in addition to the aforementioned scotch have a bottle of vodka and a part gallon of Jameson
We have our regulars, but we experiment with cocktails very often. I recently discovered the Negroni. So yummy!
20 bottles of beer on offer cost 12 Euros, one bottle by itself costs about 95 cents.
Assortments are for guests!
I like the idea of how you offer choices.
Having said that, I personally stick to the same product - but repeatedly during the evening.
Where one other day the principle remains - but I may try a different product.
I do buy different bottles of liquor and beer. How'd I do? I was gonna give you the, "I don't drink alcohol" answer but you already have your quota for the day.
Depends on how good it is , if it’s a good batch of beer , I will continue to buy that beer but I do like to mix it up at times to try different beers
if I buy it, it is for guests or events... so I mix the supplies and variety
I had a go to beer that I used to drink but if something looked interesting in the store I would buy some.
I don't drink beer so it's always same. GIN , on occassion Vodka , Soda - straight up separate.
You need a third choice lol. I put A cus I definitely get my whiteclaws but sometimes I’ll try something that catches my attention.
@purplepoppy Currently don't drink alcohol because of pregnant
Congratulations
@purplepoppy

Miss up especially wine I take avantage of offers and buy 6 get 25% off deals
When it comes to beer i’d buy just one type in a pack of multiple. When it comes to wine i would mix it up
@purplepoppy if I was a drinker I'd always buy red 🍷 anything red or reddish 👀🙌
Or champagne in pink cast bottle 🩷 or similarly rose pink 🩷
Praise the piggies pink 🐖🐷 🩷
I like having some variety.
Mix Mix Mix... DEI in alcohol is just fine!
I don't buy alcohol.
