What is your favorite dessert and why do you love it most?

Künefe, I like eating it with ice-cream. It is a very popular dessert in my country. Why is it my favourite dessert. There are several reasons:

1-) Taste contrast
sweet syrup, cheese aroma close to salt
This contrast elevates künefe from an ordinary dessert.

2-) Texture contrast
crispy kadayıf on top, soft, melting cheese inside, You get both a crispy and gooey texture in one bite.

3-) The cheese stretching

That famous "stretch" is the visual appeal of künefe. In good künefe, the cheese stretches but doesn't become like rubber.

4-) side dishes

Cream or ice cream, with milk, pistachios or walnuts, tea on top. Hot künefe and tea go especially well together.

Chocolate fudge sundays like the one in the photo are amazing!
I love a Sunday with chocolate ice cream and caramel sauce, too.

But my favorite dessert of all is a well made chocolate malt.

I am a big chocolate and mokka ice cream fan and if (and when) I go to a restaurant, I try to get either an Ice (or iced) coffee or a Coupe Danemark, which is a classic European ice cream sundae consisting of vanilla ice cream topped with hot chocolate sauce and often whipped cream. However, it is seldom found where I live because it is a typical German/Swiss dessert.

Other than than, I will settle for a Tiramisu. You can seldom go wrong with this Italian dessert. You only have to be cautious in Summer when it is hot and you have to be sure that the Tiramisu is well cooled to avoid salmonella infection.

@Abbycado Oh yes, I did in Italy, the home of gelato. If you ever go to Florence, I have a great place for you. Go over the Ponte Vecchio and the very last shop on the left is one heavenly ice cream parlor. To die for. That is why I suggest you wait a few more years.

Not cheap. Three scoops will cost you over $25 but hey, you only go to Florence every 2nd. year, right?

my wife makes a chocolate cake with my Aunt Marie's recipe. She has actually tweaked it a little and improved it. It is just the best. She , made one for Easter that are excellent. i am trying hard to lose weight but i had to make an exception.
