The only thing that springs to mind is ketchup soup!
Any time mom made roasted chicken and wanted chicken gravy but she had no chicken broth base to make it with, she'd take the block of flavour stuff from a pack of Lipton Noodle soup and put that into the chicken gravy. Next time she made soup, she'd put twice as many noodles in.
One Saturday, she was going out for several hours, shopping, I think, and left dad home to feed us when it was dinner time. He wasn't much of a cook so, he asked her what he should make. She said, "They love Lipton Noodle soup so, make them a pot of that."
Dinner time came and we were getting hungry so, he put on a pot of water and pulled the pack of soup out of the box. Once it boiled, he poured in the contents of the already open pack and cooked the noodles for 12:00. Then he gave each of us and himself a bowl of it and sat us at the table to eat it. It tasted awful!! We said, "This doesn't taste how mommy makes it." He got a slice of bread and suggested we try eating it with the bread, it still tasted awful! Now, we have hot wet bread and flavourless noodles!! He suggested we try pouring ketchup into the soup! We all did and none of us liked that, either! But, that was dinner so, we had to eat it!
Later, mom came home and we told her about the horrible soup and she asked him what he did to screw that up, he showed her and she said, "You're supposed to use one with the flavour in it! All you did was boil noodles in water!"
