Would you allow your son to eat an ice lolly that was marketed towards girls?

When ice lollies first became a thing, one of the earliest to be sold was the Zoom based on a rocket. Times being what they were it wasn't deemed appropriate for girls to have rockets, those were a boy thing.

So they created an ice lolly, especially for girls called the Fab. No doubt many a little boy asking for one would have been given a stern talking to.

Zoom for boys, Fabs for girls, and never mix them up. It's why back then boys grew up to be men.

So are you old enough to remember sucking on a Rocket? Did your parents chastise you for picking the wrong lolly? And is it time to bring back gender appropriate treats to sort kids out today?

Well do they taste good if they taste good and he wanted one of course he could have one I wouldn't care I would probably have one too and I wouldn't care

I don't really put too much into what other people think

And that goes same with my daughter if my daughter wanted one she liked it I would get her one I don't care what people think

And if they do think something they better keep it to themselves

I found out no matter what in life there's always going to be somebody that wants to push buttons or cause a problem or drama I let him do it with themselves I don't care about it

All the cool girls were sucking on Rockets and driving the boys insane from puberty onward. The boys retaliated by eating Choco Tacos really slowly. The ice cream truck guys were all being arrested at an alarming rate.

Coca Cola had a commercial years ago, that said, "image is nothing, thirst is everything, obey your thirst," and I agree with that to an extent, and I would say, I eat what tastes good, not what makes you look cool.

Like when I go to shop with 3 steaks, I buy the cheapest one, not the one with the most fancy title or the one that looks coolest on instagram.

I think we sometimes give ordinary things too much meaning. A child eating an ice lolly is just a child enjoying a treat. Strength and character are not built by the flavor or color of something, but by values, discipline, and how a person is raised.

We must teach our children to question things so that they are not easily controlled or manipulated.

I'm conservative, not dumb. I see nothing phallic or gay about having them. I would let my son have it if it's what he prefers. I just wouldn't broadcast it to the world or let judgmental people see him eating it, just to prevent any hit to his or my reputation.

But I would make sure my son would know 100% he's a boy and raise him with gender roles.

There are some things that should be gender-specific, but lollies are not one of them.

sure. i don't care. i'd also advise my daughter to buy razors for men cause they're cheaper. i look at things for what they are not for what people label them as.

I never knew that. But now that I do, any child of mine would eat gender appropriate ice cream. Or at the very least, the unisex ones. I'm not fabulous enough to rase a bender.
