Let The Words "I Can't" or "You Can't" Motivate You

Let The Words

Today should be the day you decide that you will no longer allow the words, "I can't," or "you can't" to stop you from living your life, taking risks, fulfilling your dreams, or accomplising your goals. Do not let yourself stop you from pursing something you are passionate about and do not allow others to talk you out of doing something that is meaningful to you.

What is "I can't?" When we have a problem and we think there are no solutions, we say, "I can't." I can't lose weight, I'm too fat. I can't go back to school because I'm too old and I have kids to think about. I can't get that promotion because I'm too young. I can't go on the vacation of my dreams, because I don't have enough money. It's the repetitive nature of those words that keeps us from becoming more in this life than just mediocre people. I mean look at the computer or phone you're on right now. If all the people involved in that process said, "I can't," how would I even be able to share and communicate these idea to you and others in this way. Those people are no different than you are. They all had dreams and these crazy ideas of how to make these systems work, but the difference is, they didn't believe in the gospel of "I can't." When you say, "I can't," work the problem. Why can't you? What are the obstacles in your way? What is the time or how much money is it going to take? Who do you need to see and talk to or join with to make a dream happen? Stop thinking of your dreams as being things that can only be accomplished right now. Dreams can take time, a lifetime even, but would you rather have lived your whole life never having even tried, or at the very least trying to accomplish the amazing. Your dreams, your goals, your ideas are all valid, but you have to stop letting I can't take over your life. Take each one of your I can'ts and come up with a plan and find solutions to the reasons you can't. You can't very well complain that you don't have money for a vacation if every weekend you're burning through your cash at a club, or you have an expensive phone service that you could downgrade, or you've just bought an $80 pair of shoes. Which do you want more, the experience of a lifetime and fulfilling your dreams, or these obstructions you've put in your path to getting to your dreams and then complain afterwards how you can't ever do anything like what you want.

What is "you can't?" Even if we believe in ourselves and our goals and dreams in life, there will be one or many people that come along and try to convince you that you can't do something. You have to begin to realize that these people who are trying to convince you of this are basically afraid of what will happen if you do succeed. For example, you may tell your co-workers that you want to try out for the job promotion, but they tell you, you shouldn't. They may be afraid that if you get that promotion, you will leave them, get the bigger office that will make them jealous, they won't see you anymore, you may become their boss, and on and on. It's not about you, it's about them, however, you can't live your life just to make other people more comfortable with their own. That same co-worker may very well be telling you, you can't get that promotion because they are going behind your back and trying out for it on their own because they don't want competition. Let someone telling you, "you can't" motivate the hell out of you. Prove them wrong. Prove yourself wrong!

Let The Words "I Can't" or "You Can't" Motivate You

If you want something bad enough, work for it. Stop complaining about the problem and go after it. Each person is more than capable of changing their own luck in life and of achieving something great. Keep in mind, your great doesn't need to compare to someone else's idea of what is great, because you're living your one life, not theirs. Right now, right at this moment you could be working on your dream and coming up with solutions to make that happen. Don't fall into the trap of putting things off and saying I'll do it tomorrow, because we all know, you may not have a tomorrow, and then what? All you will have lived is a mediocre unfulfilled life because you'd rather believe in "I can't," or "you can't," rather then get off your butt and do something about it. Put your energy into doing what you love, what you dream of doing, and what you dream of accomplishing. If that takes one foot in front of the other until you lose weight, or one penny at a time saved over years, or fighting with every fiber of your body, your own self doubt to graduate and become whatever you want to become, do that, because you know in your heart of hearts, that you're more than mediocre.
