It just gets very awkward and it's easier to avoid you than to face you. I also think i has to do with them trying to make their point clear... like if she was friendly after she rejected you, you could be thinking.. this girl does like me, maybe she's just playing hard to get, this is a game.. and that's why when she avoids you, there is no room to think she's "playing hard to get", she just doesn't want you to try anymore and in that process she can seem a bit rude.
Leave her alone man, she may come around in some time and you can tell her.. look, I'm not interested in anything but the cool friendship we had, so are we on good terms? And maybe she will relax. Right now she's just tense and doesn't wish to face you. Sometimes confessions can feel like a burden on someone who doesn't feel the same way and simply doesn't know how to handle it.

Maybe they don't want to be accused of "friendzoning" and just would rather not deal with the situation at all.
I know I normally stop being friends after someone confesses. Because of that, and because I've been in a relationship for the past few years and "confessing" to me is a huge sign of disrespect.
After rejecting a guy it incredibly awkward. Do not try to apologize she will find it more awkward. She's already trying to forget it, just leave her alone.
Sometimes you just have to move on man. I've been rejected plenty of times, even by girls I didn't find that attractive. Honestly they might think that you are annoying them and they are just trying to get you away from them. My advice to you would be to just start out being friends with a girl instead of confessing your feelings.
forget about this girl because she feels guilty trust me she will get over it eventually
