you may or may not know but i grew up in a really ghetto community throughout childhood and lived near the ghetto from my earlier teens till now. so all my friends and people i know the majority of them are hood rats that are friends with other hood rats.

anyways every time i go check my Twitter or instagram i notice that the majority of the chicks i'm friends with are forever tweeting and posting pictures or funny memes on basketball players. i mean is kinda weird because by looking at them and analyzing their behavior you will automatically noticed that they dont even follow the sport basketball. the majority of the pics they tweet are pretty much trendy instead of sport wised and of course hood rats are always the ones who worship trends since they are more inferior and insecure than middle and high class people.

now i dont see my other female friends from college or the others who are not hoodrats doing this.

but anyways what are your views? do you think women in general like basketball players or is this just a hood rat thing?

Girls liking professional athletes isn't new. I think that basketball players are particularly popular because among the youth Urban culture is huge. You cited instagram and Twitter and you could add tumblr even. The whole urban lifestyle has a big influence like I said. Hip hop is huge and their artists are well know. Dr Dre mad Beats by Dre headphones which almost made him a billion. Michael Jordan is still making mad money from the Nike sneaker range endorsed by him. Girls like basketball players because basketball players fit right into the whole lifestyle. LeBron James and Kobe Bryant are some of the most popular and richest sportsmen in the world

Mm, I think I understand now. Hoodrats are basically the urban equivalent of Southern trailer trash. Hoodrats like basketball players, trailer trash likes Nascar drivers or something. To more be more specific, if it's in the girls culture to favor a particular sport, they will like the players of said sport. For example, airhead suburban girls like baseball and hockey players, as the aforementioned sports are popular within that culture.

you couldnt of explained it any better. but yea as far as hoodrats go if its big and intimidating, makes over a million, its balling out of control, and its a source of drama and gossip then they will kill for it

no its not just women in general, everyone is different. I d say it probably is just the area they're from and that's the kind of people they grew up around, lots of people play bball there as you said so those girls are just sharing similar interests. around me its all hurling, football and rugby because that's the main sport where I live and girls go crazy for them. in general, girls like sporty guys more so than just basket ballers. but again, everyone is different and a lot of us like musical guys, or intelligent guys or just plain funny ones!

Never heard of the term "hood rat"... but that aside, I don't have a preference per say in basketball players. In fact, basketball isn't really a *thing* in my country so I've never encountered a basketball player. I don't know anything about it and in all honesty, aren't really interested either. So for me the answer is no.

I see.. we got people like that here too. We have a term for them and we tend to call them "common" people. But the spelling is slightly different in my language.

you sound like a hater! why would only HOODRTS like basketball players? I grew up in the suburbs and we like them there too. tall, athletic, sexy bodies, usually good looking and confident... whats not to love? check a lot of women who basketball players are dating are usually not the hoodrats
