+1 yOk look I know it feels great to read what the last 7 guys said about how wonderful it is you're intelligent and like books, but this is the internet, a lot of people on this site are 'internet people' if you know what I mean, and I think it would be a really serious mistake to just believe that really guys do like a girl obsessed with books.
Yes, it's great that you're a beautiful and intelligent woman, but reading is boring to 90% of guys unless the material involves naked lady pictures. Smart guys or nerdy guys will love the fact that you like books. Other guys either won't care or will think it's kind of a bad thing, because it's boring to them and it means you're probably going to be wanting to stay inside and read instead of go out and have fun. That's what most guys are going to think. If you aren't a stay-inside-and-read-all-day kind of girl and you do like to go outside and have fun, you need to say that or guys will assume the former rather than the latter.
So for majority of guys, turn off, for smart/dorky dudes, turn on. The musician/artsy/trendy guys are usually ok with books too.14 Reply- +1 y
I can't NOT comment on your answer.
1. Saying that other people are "internet people" doesn't make you right, and it doesn't mean you're not one of them.
2. Unless you have some study to support your response, your statistics on the "majority of guys" are imaginary.
3. "So for majority of guys, turn off, for smart/dorky dudes, turn on."
You're indirectly saying the majority of guys aren't smart. Good imaginary statistic. - +1 y

I mostly agree, but I kind of disagree at the same time. I think that most guys that girls actually WANT to date, don't want a girl who sits at home all day reading, but at the same time I highly doubt that guys find it a turn off if a girl reads for an hour or two a day. I can totally understand a guy not wanting his girlfriend to be the kind of girl who sits home reading the day away, but I don't think a guy would care if his girl reads for like an hour or two.

So dudes, if they're honest, dig illiterates?
Um, no.

+1 yCertainly not a turn off to me: my wife is a "bookworm" too.

549 opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. I'm all about the books too. I started reading when I was three and haven't slowed down since. That's one aspect of my life that my mama influenced positively. =] I picked up her habit and ran with it, haha.
When it comes to guys, it's whatever. If my reading habits are a 'problem,' they can suck it, because we obviously wouldn't have been very compatible anyway. Ideally, I'd like to find a guy who enjoys reading as much as I do, so I have someone who understands my obscure literary humor, haha. But if not, I'd love one who can at least appreciate my love of books and find it endearing.00 Reply

A turn off?! I love bookworms! :P I think it's awesome when people are actually interested in doing things that stimulate the mind, like reading (and not 'umm;; hangingg out with friendss ;@; the mallll &&; shoppingg lol'). It's an attractive trait for somebody to have.

+1 yNot at all, I'm not sure how old you are but I'm 28 and I can't seem to find anyone who actually cares about learning. As I get older I realize I would DIE for a chick who wasn't as dumb as a brick. I find educated or well read girls very sexy. Doesn't even have to be educational. Just reading for fun is a big plus in a girl for me.

I am a bookworm and love it!
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yi think that's awesome, I'm an english major and I started reading for pleasure regularly almost two years ago, it's definitely good for the mind and can sometimes be a lot more entertaining than most movies coming out these days, anyways if you're looking for any suggestions, I've read every book by Bret Easton Ellis and Chuck Palahniuk, they're a blast to read and really interesting, plus anything by Don DeLillo, Irvine Welsh, Jay McInerney, I mostly like authors who sort of comment on society, kind of like social satire or social critique, it's like the coolest kind of fiction, well sorry for the rambling
00 ReplyDepends on the guy, I like smart girls, but that is just me. But some guy like, need to feel superior to their partner. The biggest turn on however is self confidence (be careful, easily confused with arrogance). Do not worry are being a book worn, be yourself and be comfortable with who your are, trite I know, but true and it works. If nothing else, you could go for the sexy librarian look.
00 ReplyI think that ADDS attractiveness more than anything. Anyone who reads regularly gets a lot of points in my book, unless it's trashy romance novels. I say it's a complete turn on.
20 ReplyThe brain is the first beauty asset of a woman and not any other thing. The bodily parts come second.
I go for brain and beauty, which is a perfect combination and the real definition of absolute beauty.30 Reply
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI like it...provided she doesn't go off on a book (like Harry Potter). My girlfriend is a beautiful "book worm" herself, and I find it very attractive, it shows that she has intelligence and is not the "dumb, party-girl" that happens to be a turn off for me.

What do you mean "go off on a book"? Sorry, just confused.
Opinion Owner+1 yI mean by people that take a book, like Harry Potter, Twilight, etc., and mold their entire lives around it, and talk nothing of anything else but the book, and think that everyone else is interested in that book as well.
No it's not a turn off. I think a women is more intellectual and are interesting. everyone has different needs, people are raised by different rolemodels. it's the interest the counts, that makes a man a value to a relationship.

Yeah I agree, if a guy is attracted to a girl of course he will get over whatever little quirks she may have. If the guy is not attracted to the girl, yeah he may find her nerdy but if he is attracted to her, he'll get over her little habits.
the only problem is. you went anon. so we don't even know if you really are as you say "beautiful" and besides every guy has their own definition of beautiful. it sounds kinda cocky to me too. bit of a turn off
00 ReplyYou are such a hot commodity most guys are too scared to approach you.
Believe me, it's not a turn off, very much the opposite.10 Replyto me its a major turn on, nothing is better then a pretty face that doesn't have the vocabulary limits of a valley girl

As another smart girl, I'd like to point out that your statement, "girls that are intelligent is sexy," is grammatically incorrect. you messed up your subject-verb agreement. it should say, "girls that are intelligent ARE sexy." and thanks for the compliment. I happen to think I'm kinda sexy, too. ;-)
