Good excuse or rain check?

So I asked this girl to go putt putting with me and a couple of friends the next day, at the time she said "sure sounds like a lot of fun:)"
I text her the next day telling her the time and she says
-I'm so sorry it's one of my really good friends birthdays and her aunt just passed away so she is having a tough time, she asked me and couple other people to come over for it. Can I take a rain check? Is that okay? Again I'm really sorry
I replied with "yeah that's okay"
- she replies with "I'm really sorry thanks for inviting me:)"

I've heard from a couple people she might like me but you know how rumors are, by the way what she said was valid about her best friend and aunt, I'm just wondering because some people say that they would skip anything to hang with their crush

One way of kind of testing her out would be to text her, and maybe say, "Hey I know that you're probably kind of busy right now but if you want to get together sometime this week or so, let me know when would work best for you" that way, you kind of leave it up to her, she sounds genuine though so I wouldn't be too worried, if she's interested in you she'll def. take the bait, you're letting her know you want to hang out, and that if she wants to, you can work around her life schedule (work etc) and if she calls or sets up a time she's into ya, if not... you left it up to her you know? Or at least try something similar to that.

Thank you! Yeah were in going into our senior year of highschool so she isn't to busy and we have great texting conversation too! Thanks for the advice

UM thats a rain check situation. No person, in my opinion, plays around with the idea of death so easily. So she was most likely telling you the truth. And she was really asking you for a rain check. give her another chance and maybe ask her to do something alone with you, maybe she'll feel more comfortable.

Yes she has! The thing I don't like though is I pretty much have to text first all the time and I know she is that type of girl, she snapchats me first all the time though!

I'm the same way with that so I can relate to it! I hate texting first. I'm just one of those girls that would rather wait for the guy to text first
