What's the deal with rain checks?

I asked this girl out to lunch and she said she already had plans with friends for the entire afternoon. Then she said: sorry! rain check for next week maybe?

Is it worth it to ask her one more time? I can't help but get the feeling she is trying to say thanks, but no thanks.

Forgot to ask this. If we do set another date, should I continue to casually text her until then or wait. We have texted back and forth a little up to this point.

When someone says this, watch their eyes. If they aren't really focusing on you, probably she is just politely saying 'No, never!'

But if she's really seeing you, she may MEAN that she wants to reschedule.

Reschedule right then, on the spot, and the one who doesn't mean it will make some other excuse, or claim to be too busy. The one who really WANTS to see you will set a new time immediately.

Don't let the moment pass, or even the one who wants to see you may think you aren't serious, and never contact you to set the time. Make the commitment then and there!

If she asks for a rain check, it's up to her to suggest another date and time. If all she does is ask for a rain check, but never mentions it agian you can rest assured she's letting you down easy. Again, if she asks for a rain check, it isn't your responsibility to ask again, it's her responsibility to let you know when she IS available. If she doesn't, she's not interested.

I hate that guys always ask this question. Just because she's not going to drop everything and cancel her plans for you doesn't mean she's not interested. You can't expect a girl to always be available for the exact time that you ask her out. She suggested next week, so she's not blowing you off. If she were blowing you off, she'd be vague. Just text her and say something like, "Sooo, you mentioned next week?" and she'll probably make more specific plans as soon as she can. But you cannot expect to be a priority in her life before even dating.

If she didn't wanna see you again she would not text you at all, and she would certainly not suggest a rain check, I Think it was an honest mistake. Text her in a few days and talk, then next week sometime ask her out again. If she says yes, then yes, she is interested. IF she says another raincheck, then blow her off.

She's likely not lying to you because she said rain check, so she definitely wants to hang with you. Don't worry that she couldn't when you asked; she already had plans. Definitely ask her again, you'll feel glad you did. Don't wait too long, though! Good luck!

I think its fine because she really could have been busy, at least she gave you another date you know. I would say text back and forth a little but skip a couple days, give her time to miss u

If she already had plans, then she already had plans. So no biggie that she turned you down. And she did offer another time. When she offered up next week, did you pick a day for lunch? If not you need to do that now. Find out which days work for her and then pick one that works for you. If she wants to see you (which she may) she'll give you a date and facilitate getting something scheduled. If she comes back with "I'm busy every day next week." Then you can take it as "thanks but no thanks, I'm busy every day the rest of my life too," and just leave it be.

Raincheck means yes, but give her more notice and make her part of the planning.

Don't ask when she expects you to, i.e. next week. Wait two weeks, no more than three. It shows you have a life and you aren't waiting around to ask her out again. And keep the casually texting to a minimum. Keeps her guessing.

Your right. Mostly it is a nice thanks but no thanks. But to be sure try to tell her to contact you and make the plans instead since she's the one with the busy schedule
