guys, are you more attracted to an independent girl, or do you need the damsel in distress that you need to protect/save?

Any meaningful, committed relationship necessarily invloves mutual dependancy in a healthy way. After all, if one wants to be truly independent, one is better off being single. On the other hand, a woman that is constantly in need of being protected/saved, is probably in some emotional crisis that's beyond my ability to remedy. I've no interest in role-playing, or game-playing. Love involves mutual support, encouragement, protection, openness, trust, and truth. Anything less is a waste of time and energy.

I think that generally most guys prefer to feel like they could protect their girl and that they provide for her. I don't think this means that she needs to be a damsel in distress with obvious need for protecting. I think it means that they want to make it clear that if she ever does need to be protected or provided for, they can and will do it.

I can only speak for myself, but I like a little bit of both. A girl who can be independent when she has to be, but that would also like someone to be there for her when she needs somebody. It doesn't make me feel useless, but it doesn't make me feel swamped in responsability either.

I prefer an independent woman. When she makes me act as a protector or provider, it sorta makes me feel like I'm having to take over where her daddy left off, and that shouldn't be the boyfriend's/husband's responsibility. She's an adult who is capable of taking care of herself and I would very much prefer it if she acted that way.
