Well you know, there's this weird thing that happens in the gym sometimes. And it's called working out. Let me explain how the cardiovascular systems works really quick, so it will shed light on what's going on here.

When you start to do physical activity, this generates heat within your body. From your blood pumping faster to your lungs drawing quicker breaths, heat is generated from this. Now, the opposite of experiencing cold temperatures is what your body does to regulate it's own core temperature. What happens is that your body begins to pump as much of that warm blood AWAY from the core of the body and to your extremities where, with the aid of sweating, body heat can evaporate away from the body.

So with a lot more blood coming from the core of the body to the extremities, you don't think that a lot of your body parts would swell up with the extra volume in them? That's neato how all that works, especially in such an unorthodox place for physical activity like a gym, huh? ;)
