GIRLS: is there a difference between calling a guy "nice" vs "sweet"?

Being in my early 30s I've been around the block a few times... so I know damn well what "nice" means (and it makes me cringe) however I feel like phrase "sweet" has a different more positive connotation.

Sweet seems to be more genuine and indicative a girl has legitimate romantic interest. Just curious if you girls "nice" and "sweet" interchangeable or if they phrases mean something else.

Really depends on the context. When a guy gives me a compliment, I usually say something like "Thanks, that's sweet of you" or "You're sweet, thanks", but that doesn't mean I'm interested in him, I'm just thanking him for his words. I've told guys I'm into or dating that they're sweet too, though. Even nice. So, I don't think it's a great indicator of whether I have any romantic interest in him or not. Can kinda go either way. If I say I like him, or that I think he's attractive/handsome, or if I'm kissing him, or flirting with him, those are better indicators.

I call a guy sweet who I would never in a million years be with. To me, nice & sweet are the same to me... I didn't know they meant any different lol.

Both for me mean the same. I'd describe a guy I'm attracted to as those things. One is not better or less better in my books.

I think it's because I've gotten past some action from girls who described me as "sweet" in the past, but whenever I was described as "nice"...

Being called nice like. "you're really nice but lets just be friends" however, sweet says "Aw you're so sweet tell me more sweet things because I like you" you wouldn't actually say those things but that's how I feel when i say nice or sweet

I use sweet emotionally, mainly for people I find comforting. Nice usually just means someone is pleasant to be around or talk to.
