Girls' use of "emoticons"?

When texting, are you girls actually smiling with the use of an "emoticon"?

I use emoticons a lot. I'll admit, I don't always smile or anything when I type them. It's more for decoration purpose sometimes and I feel like it can brighten up a conversation and make it seem more fun and light hearted. However when I send kiss face emoticons or anything romantic then I always mean it and feel the love for real.

normally unless we send it after almost every text then, we may want you to leave us alone, unless you are really really funny... or we have the biggest crush on you ever and everything you say makes us smile. if they go to the trouble to send more than one emotion than you got their attention and your funny.

My use of emoticons depends on how Im feeling at the moment. So Im not gonna put a happy face if I don't feel good. If Im sad or depressed, I'll use things to represent that. And when Im nervous I may not put anything. But I heard it can be considered as flirting so I may not use it cuz I don't want people to randomly think Im flirting with them.

Go ham with the smiley face. It show's you're in a good mood if nothing else, even if it is a bit annoying. As for the other ones, dude, remember, they're itty bitty pictures on a screen in a text message. They don't carry THAT much meaning. I would say don't send clearly romantic emoticons to people you feel "meh" about. But who cares? Its a cartoon. You're fine. Infinitely better than a dick pic.

Hahaha that's a good question.. I use emoticons a lot. I actually smile when I text about 5 or more laughing emoticons, when I text one or two of those I feel just very interested. If I talk with a person about the same things face to face I would smile a lot more because it is more pleasing to talk.

i am a very emotive person by nature, so texting is a bit of a problem for me. for that reason, i tend to use a lot of smileys and lols. i feel it makes it a bit more personal and yes, i do smile when i do emoticons, can't have empty smileys! haha :)

Sometimes I smile, sometimes I don't since not everything makes me laugh. It does brighten up the conversation and can help express how you are feeling. I use emoticons on a daily basis, but I try not to overuse them so I don't get annoying, So it just depends on the situation or message for me to smile when I send an emoticon

I generally use emojis to add to whatever I'm saying in a cutesy way. But generally when I use any of the smiley emojis, I am actually smiling. I use them as a way to let the other person know I'm enjoying the conversation and make it more fun/flirty depending on the conversation.

it depends on the situation. sometimes it just accompanies the text to help get the right message across, sometimes i'm smiling or laughing and want to convey it. if it's the latter it should be pretty obvious.
