Why would a good-looking girl look up and away from someone walking in the opposite direction she is walking?

I know the girl from another class but not sure why she did that lol.

I think she saw me coming with the corner of her eye and when she saw me walking in the opposite direction she quickly looked up and completely away from me (kinda like if she was looking at the sky). when we passed by each other she quickly looked at me at the very last second and said hi with a big fake smile.

Im not sure if she did that last thing just out of politeness or what?

I think she just wanted to see if i was looking at her and because we made eye contact she had to say hi?

Hmm, she may have looked away quickly out of nervousness knowing she wanted to say something so she forced it at the last second. Is she an awkward person in general?

no, she is not. I tried to talked to her last semester last day of classes and i think she was friendly.

Another time i saw her from afar and i waved at her and she first did not recongize me i guess, then she did a close lipped tight smile after looking at me and then after that she smiled with her eyes only.

hopefully i am not making things awkward for her (creeping her out in other words)... lol

Hard to say. I mean, let's look at it chronologically.

1) You talk to her, she appears friendly
2) You wave but she doesn't recognize you immediately but then sort of smiles
3) She says hi to you in passing

In seems like slow progress to me. Next time you see her, try to spark up a conversation and see where that goes.

I've heard that if someone looks up to avoid eye-contact they believe they're better than the other person. Don't know about the saying hi bit though.
