What is meant by "kinda sorta in relationship"?

I met this woman a few weeks ago and we hit it off. Then later today out of the blue she messages me, one thing leads to another and I compliment her by saying that she is attractive. She then message saying that she is kinda sorta in a relationship. I'm a little lost to this use of words; usually you're in a relationship or you're not. Is there a meaning behind "kinda Sorta" or is this just a bad choice of words?

You either are or you aren't.
I would assume she's involved with someone but isn't happy with her relationship.
Even if that's the case you shouldn't involve yourself in a big mess.
