What is romance all about? What counts as romantic, and what doesn't? What do you have to do to be considered a "romantic" person?

I thought I was a romantic, but apparently what I claim to be romantic is just basic stuff like cooking for your partner from time to time then watching anime while holding hands or whatever. But apparently that's not enough, and you need fancy dinners and candles. And flowers. I don't even like flowers! All they do is die. Whatever. I don't get romance. I thought I did, but I guess I honestly don't.

What is romance all about? What counts as romantic, and what doesn't? What do you have to do to be considered a "romantic" person?

Romance to me is expressing your love the best you can, through spontaneous actions!

You are definitely not a romantic if you do not see the beauty and symbolism in flowers

Flowers represent romance perfectly, they sprout up, grow, and explode vibrantly, but they do not last forever...

Being a romantic, is always being willing to express your love, in
new ways, and always wanting to share this mystery of love with another!

Romance is hopeless and beautiful, and not being a romantic, is a positive, but being romantic on occasion (which means show your love in a different way) will be greatly appreciated!

remember spontaniuty and mystery is what you should be going for once you decide to commit a romantic act

To me, romance is about the ability to *positively surprise* your partner.
This is the main reason why it doesn't work when you demand your partner to tell you what is romantic to her. If she told you and you did exactly as she told you a week later, the surprise is gone and you blame her for not knowing herself what she wants.

The guys in romcoms are romantic, because they are able to surprise their ladies (and the audience).

Meh, all the romance I need in life is when I lie down with my boyfriend and we just cuddle without talking. Oh, and flowers suck. My boyfriend's learned it by now and he buys me burritos instead.

A romantic guy.. In my opinion would be.. Like a guy that really really cares for the girl and hugs her a lot.
