Are Taller Than Average Women Self-Conscious About their Height?

Question

I recently attended a social gathering I was invited to by a female friend. One of the women there really caught my eye, but she ended up leaving early and I didn't get a chance to make my move. Turns out she noticed me too and was texting my female friend asking about me. When my female friend let me know, however, she kept mentioning her height. The woman is maybe an 1 to 1.5 inches taller than me, and my friend kept saying stuff like "you know she's tall right?", "here's a picture, look how much taller than me she is", and "I just want to make sure you know she's tall".

I'm assuming that her friend must be a little insecure about her height, since she wouldn't be asking about me in the first place if me being shorter had turned her off. Is that typical for taller women? Is it that women want man who is bigger than them so they feel safe? I may not be taller than her, but I'm pretty muscular so while she may be taller than me she's not even close to being bigger than me.

I guess I'd never really thought about height as an issue. Either I'm attracted to a woman or I'm not. Do tall women feel self-concious about their height, or is it only an issue when the guy is self-concious about it and keeps bringing it up? Does it make sex any different when the woman is taller?

Tall girls are usually insecure about their height because...
1) They feel that they aren't feminine or "normal". Society has adopted the idea that the females should always be shorter then her man, however when that isn't the case then insecurities are created since they (tall woman, short man) don't fit into what society view as "normal" or the "right way".

2) Most guys in an effort to feel more masculine tend to seek out girls shorter then them. Even guys who are over 6ft tend to go after 5'4 girls and short guys also tend to seek out shorter girls. This leaves the taller girls out of the loop and because of this they begin to feel less desirable.

From what I notice a lot of women actually aren't attracted to shorter men. So her inquiring about you means it doesn't bother her about your height.

Women do this to themselves with the shorter guys honestly. It is not that men aren't attracted to taller girls. It is that a majority of the time the woman is not attracted to the shorter guy. So the guy will not show interest in a taller girl under the assumption that she is not interested and focus on shorter girls thus leaving the taller girls thinking that guys don't like tall girls when it is the exact opposite most of the time.

Some woman may feel self-conscious about being tall. It sounds like the woman you described is but it sounds like her jealous friend shames her height all the time. So what if she's tall, if you want to talk to her, she shouldn't be cock blocking! I'm 5'9 and I love being on the taller side. Long legs. I know some women can be insecure, but it's got a lot of pros. I've never heard anything bad about being tall from men, and have never felt self-conscious.

It sounds like any insecurity she might've had would've revolved around wanting to make sure that you were comfortable with her being taller. It also may be new to her to possibly carry something out with a shorter man.

Kinda, I'm 5ft 9 and shorter guys always intimidated by our height... or we get hated on by short girl, are people assume were some type of way.. most times I forget I'm really tall untill I stand next to shorter people, or people mention it... contrary to belief taller people do not have a big ego, nor think we are too much better, we just know were tall cuz everyone points it out.

I am 5'9" and I will say that I am frankly not attracted to a man shorter than me. It is just preference, but I like feeling smaller and a shorter guy makes me feel "dominant". Some girls don't care though!

*The short answer*- some are and some aren't.

Unfortunately, many girls really have this 'need' to feel feminine and being shorter than their male partner does the trick more than any other rational thing you can think of.

More often than not, girls find that they just aren't attracted to shorter men. A lot say that it far outweighs any other attraction they may have for they.

They girls who are tall who feel insecure about their height usually are insecure because of either: treatment from men (rejected because of their height is an example), treatment from women (their femininity is questioned by shorter females) and their own perception of what height means to them being that are female themselves. (That can be whatever ideals about height they may have).

"I just want to make sure you know she's tall" Either she's concerned you might hurt her friend (reject her once you realise her height), or she has a crush on you herself. (Does that sound likely?)

Certainly some taller women (depending on how tall) are insecure about their height.

I'm not overly tall (5'7-8") and I've crushed on guys from afar and as soon as I heard they were shorter than me I was sorta turned off. I want to be smaller than the guy I'm with, im pretty self conscious about my size as well as my height and wouldn't want to be with someone who made me feel like Goliath and uncomfortable. Meanwhile if I was shorter than them is be a lot more comfortable. So yeah height is an issue
