Overheard girls talking about me as I was walking towards them?

So I was walking towards a group of 3 girls. I had my ear buds in and i was whistling, but wasn't playing any music. I guess they thought I couldn't hear them , but I heard one of them say "I think he's a sophomore." (I'm a junior lmao)

I also made brief eye contact with one, but if anything I just looked like was looking around, not checking them out.

But How do you think that conversation started and ended? What do you think they were saying
